🦋 How It All Began

I’m Judith, a proud Butterfly Member and the founder of what was once called The Girls’ Hub Uganda. Our journey began in a small community center in Koro Sub County, Gulu District, Northern Uganda— with a dream to provide a safe space where teenage mothers and vulnerable girls could learn practical skills and reclaim their futures.

We started small. A few borrowed tools. Big hopes. And a fire in our hearts.

Through the support of generous people like you, we managed to grow. We trained young mothers in tailoring, hairdressing, and baking. We ran mentorship sessions to help girls stay in school. We built friendships, we built confidence—and most importantly, we started to build a movement.

 💪 From Girls’ Hub to Wings of Courage 

As our impact grew, so did our vision. With other stakeholders and mentors, we decided to choose a new name that could reflect our evolving mission—not just helping girls but uplifting women and addressing broader challenges affecting them.

That's how Wings of Courage was born.

The name represents what we want for every girl: to rise, to soar, to find strength in her story—and take flight into her future.

Last year, thanks to your donations:

We were able to register as a Community-Based Organization (CBO)

We began the process of registering as a fully recognized NGO

We used funds to purchase sewing machines, kick-start our bakery department, and buy materials to launch our hairdressing class

🎯 What’s Next: Our 3-Day Girls' Camp 2025

We are now planning our biggest event yet:

We are raising money for a 3-day leadership and empowerment camp for 120 girls from 4 districts across Northern Uganda starting 14th to 16th May 2025.

These girls are selected from schools and communities where girls often drop out due to:

• Lack of menstrual health supplies
• Early pregnancy and poverty
• Lack of mentorship and low self-esteem
• Societal beliefs that women can't achieve more

This camp is our answer. It’s not just a workshop—it’s a Launchpad for future leaders.

🏕️ What Will Happen at the Camp?

Each girl will attend a 3-day intensive experience filled with:

• Peer-to-peer mentorship
• Leadership and life skills training
• Menstrual health education and support
• Vocational skills workshops
• Fun, creative, and confidence-building activities like:

 🧼 Soap-making & cooking competitions

   🎨 Art, crafts & dance club

 🔁 Plastic bottle recycling projects

     🎲 Group games and discussion

 ✍️ Story-sharing & vision planning

The girls will leave not only with skills and supplies, but with the belief that they matter, that they are capable, and that their dreams are valid.

🧡 Why It Matters:

Many of the girls we support have never left their villages. They’ve never had someone tell them “You can.” They’ve never seen examples of women balancing dreams, careers, and families.

At Wings of Courage, we’re building those examples, one girl at a time.

When these girls return to their schools and communities, they become ambassadors of courage—sharing what they learned and mentoring their peers.
