Who are we?
The Church with Warmth team aims to provide a place of ?unconditional welcome? at Emmanuel in South Croydon. In addition to Warm Workspaces on a Monday, Tuesday and Friday from 9am - 5pm, we also offer a Renew Lounge on a Friday from 8:45am to 5pm where we welcome our local community to come to a safe, warm space where we serve free coffee, tea and soup and rolls for lunch.
Community impact
Emmanuel has always had community at its heart and warm spaces is another way that we offer support and friendship to local residents from any background.
In addition to Warm Spaces, we also run a number of other community initiatives including Selam, an English Language class for women, run by women and a food collection point to help with the increase in demand that foodbanks are currently experiencing.
Why are we crowdfunding?
We are aware that the current cost of living crisis is affecting all members of our local community. Those who work from home are facing significantly increased bills for heating, and may not have returned to the office after the pandemic so seek out a communal place to work. Some of our older members of the community or those who are isolated will have a warm and welcoming place to go to that they can rely on and share a warm lunch with new friends.
How we?ll spend the money raised
Any funding received will allow us to continue to provide the heating, food and drink required to support the Warm Spaces initiative, including any craft supplies needed for the Renew Lounge.
