Emily’s Community Triathlon Challenge

Aim

I am raising money to help fund the purchase of our community building in the heart of Penzance.

Hi my name is Emily and I am a dancer and Ambassador at The Big Dance Company. I am 11 years old and have danced since I was nearly 8. This is a family run dance school and this building has been their home for the past 18 years. Because of COVID the church are having to sell it on the open market so the future of this dance company staying in the heart of Penzance is under threat. The studio has been leaders in raising awareness for Domestic Violence, Hate Crime, Anti-Bullying Campaigns, Local scholarships for underprivileged children, International outreach projects and so much more..

If we can secure this premises we will not only have a safe place to dance but will be able to offer a safe haven for many other community based groups to grow and thrive.
There are dancers in the studio now whose mums and dads were once dancers, it would be amazing to see future generations continuing to dance here.
The dance company and teachers mean the world to me and my family. It is my second home and I can’t imagine having to dance anywhere else. If we lose this building it means finding a new location which might then make it difficult for me and others to continue dancing. This would be devastating as dancing is my passion and the place where I’m happiest.

So this is why I have decided to do my own challenge so I can help save the studio for our dance company and the community.

I will be doing my own version of a triathlon which will start with a 5km bike ride, followed by a 5km walk and then finish with an hour of dancing.
I will be doing it on either 5th or 6th December which I will confirm in the week leading up to it.
