Help them get started
Your support makes a difference
Help us build Embody & Connect CIC, creating inclusive spaces where movement, creativity and connection help communities thrive.
Our Story
Hi, I'm Cara, Founder and Director of Embody & Connect CIC.
For many years I've worked as a teacher, Dance Movement Psychotherapist, dance educator, and artist across schools, the NHS, charities, and community settings. Throughout my career, I've seen first-hand the incredible difference that movement, creativity, and genuine human connection can make to people's wellbeing.
I've also seen the growing challenges facing children, young people, families, and communities. More people are experiencing loneliness, anxiety, poor mental health, and a lack of opportunities to truly connect.
One belief has stayed with me throughout my career:
Some of the most important conversations don't start with words—they start with movement.
I've spent years watching what happens when people are given permission to move, create, and simply be themselves. I've seen confidence grow, friendships form, emotions expressed safely, and people discover a genuine sense of belonging.
Those moments inspired everything Embody & Connect stands for.
Our Vision
Embody & Connect exists to create healthier, more connected communities through movement, creativity, and meaningful relationships.
We're developing inclusive programmes for children, young people, families, adults, and older people that use movement and creativity to improve wellbeing, reduce isolation, build confidence, and strengthen community connections.
Our first major project, Creative Conversations, will bring children and young people together in safe, welcoming spaces where they can move, express themselves, develop practical wellbeing skills, and build lasting friendships.
We're also developing Move, Breathe & Belong, a wellbeing programme for women that combines gentle movement, breathwork, mindfulness, and meaningful conversation. The programme will create supportive spaces where women can reduce stress, reconnect with themselves, build confidence, and develop a sense of belonging within their local community.
Together, these programmes reflect our belief that movement can support wellbeing at every stage of life and that everyone deserves opportunities to connect, express themselves, and thrive.
This is just the beginning. Our long-term vision is to create programmes that reach communities across the UK, helping people of all ages feel seen, heard, valued, and connected.
Why We're Fundraising
As a new Community Interest Company, we're building the foundations that will allow us to create lasting impact.
We're applying for grants to deliver our programmes, but every new organisation also needs support with the essential costs of getting started.
The money we raise will help us:
These foundations will enable us to deliver safe, high-quality programmes that can grow sustainably and reach more people.
Be Part of the Beginning
By supporting Embody & Connect, you're doing more than making a donation.
You're helping create opportunities for children, young people, families, and communities to build confidence, improve wellbeing, and experience a genuine sense of belonging.
