ELM Wildlife rescues and rehabilitates British wildlife, primarily hedgehogs, we do accept other species of wildlife when space allows; we medicate and house all casualties on site. ELM's capacity at present is 220 animals, 240 at a squeeze, unfortunately this still not enough during certain periods. ELM is supported by a team of over 195 volunteers and two paid staff members (another desperately needed); with the centre manned and open 365 days a year. At present the rescue centres address is: Unit 5, Hayter Hames building, Seale Hayne, Newton Abbot, Devon TQ12 6NQ

1Thank you for coming to ELM’s Crowdfunder page, we hope you like the work we do and consider supporting us, so we can save more wildlife.
I don’t say this so be dramatic, but we are running out of time to save ELM. We need to at least find somewhere for the rescue centre to move to, before April; or we will be forced to start winding down ELM. We are having a last big push, every penny we make, could put us closer to securing a building and/or land; plus help to build a new rescue centre.
2023 was an amazingly busy year for casualties, with an extremely high demand for ELM’s services……………but unfortunately a dreadful year for moral; with what is possibly the final nail in the coffin.
In March, we were given the option of either paying more than double our rent or being evicted! Not having that sort of funding, we requested 6 months to find somewhere new. The end of August was the deadline, we were full of casualties; at the last minute a friend saved us with some legal advice. This gave us more time, until August 2024. unfortunately August is the hight of Hoglet season (babies), so we knew we’d have make a call in April, which is our quietest time.
As a family, we have gone past our burnout levels many times, but the guilt of letting down or wildlife and staff; nor to mention, the pure waste of knowledge and infrastructure, drives us on.
ELM Wildlife was created in 2018 by the Parker family (Rick, Jacky and Emily) and has been run/manned by them daily, ever since; has become the largest capacity hedgehog rescue in the SW of England. ELM is what we like to call a proper charity (Charity Commission number 1188486), it is not a CIC which does some charitable acts or makes a profit for its Founders, Trustees or Board Members; every penny raised or donated, goes towards running ELM.
ELM Wildlife rescue and rehabilitates British wildlife, primarily hedgehogs but we do take other wildlife when space allows; we medicate and house all casualties. ELM admits 1500+ casualties a year, with an enclosure capacity at present for 220 animals (240 at a squeeze, but still not enough), ELM has grown into the SW’s largest capacity hedgehog rescue. We are supported by a team of over 180 volunteers and three paid staff members; with the centre manned and open 365 days a year. There is also a dedicated call line that averages between 60-100 calls/day and a Facebook page @savinghedgehogs with advice via the ‘Messenger Button’.
ELM covers the whole of Devon, with regular casualties from neighbouring counties.
ELM’s reputation is now at the point where the RSPCA, RSPB, Devon Wildlife and the majority of Devon vets refer enquires straight to us.
At present the rescue centres address is:
Unit 5, Hayter Hames building, Seale Hayne, Newton Abbot, Devon TQ12 6NQ
If you care for the health and wellbeing of wildlife, please consider helping us to help them. With your help we will be able to help many more casualties of all wildlife species.
Thank you so much from,
Rick, Jacky & Emily Parker, plus our Trustee’s, volunteers and supporters.
