Can you help us to create memories that will last a lifetime for young care leavers this Christmas who may otherwise spend Christmas Day feeling alone?
Following on from the success of the last four years, Theatre Porto in Ellesmere Port will be hosting one of the Christmas Dinners for Care Leavers, which take place across the country, as part of an annual project founded by the poet Lemn Sissay MBE - who spent much of his childhood in care and recognised that young people who had been raised in foster care or care homes often lacked support once they left the care system aged 18.
The Christmas Dinners is itself not a charity or a Social Enterprise, nor an organisation - it's a project organised entirely by an independent group of volunteers to create magic and memories on Christmas Day that will last a lifetime. The Ellesmere Port Christmas Dinner is supported by the charity Theatre Porto that allows us to raise money and claim gift aid towards this much needed cause.
Despite these difficult times, Christmas Dinner steering groups across the country are continuing to meet and rise to the challenge with imagination and style.
Theatre Porto (formerly known as Action Transport Theatre) – a charity and young people’s organisation are once again supporting the Ellesmere Port Christmas Dinner – they will not only be hosting the Christmas day dinner but also a series pre-Christmas events for for the young people and their families.
