Blagdon Cricket Club are a community based cricket club offering opportunities to participate in cricket to all age groups in the local area
The story so far ....
The Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games is an enormous event this year and is an exciting opportunity for our Club to bring people together through sport and activity and provide a legacy that has lasting impact and helps our community connect and stay active
This year our plan is for the Annual Club Day to celebrate the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham and to have a festival of T20 games for all our ages groups, men and women supplying a fun filled day of cricket as if it is being played as T20 match at the Commonwealth Games
Our club strives to provide competitive cricket and a community hub for local people. With your help, we can continue going from strength to strength and increase the availability and quality of the sporting opportunities available to those in our community.
Nearly 140 years after the Club was founded, we have three senior teams , a flourishing junior section which features the ECB flagship programmes All-Stars through which we promote cricket in local primary schools.
Senior and Youth Teams 2022

During our history we have prided ourselves on being a part of the local community, offering more than just an opportunity to play cricket during the summer. The Club has a close association with the local Primary School and provides access to the Club facilities on a year-round basis with the children enjoying playing on the outfield at break time and participating in organised activities such as football, rounders, and the annual school sports day
The Club also offers the pavilion for use by local groups and has catered for the Toddler Group and recently has hosted children parties
There is some form of activity at the Club every week of the year
Our challenge
In 2021 our aim was to replace our not fully working and decaying manual scorebox facia with a new structure and an LED score board. The current structure dates to 2004 is falling apart and needs to be replaced.
A new scorebox would also bring us into line with the 21st Century and the modern method of computer scoring. The plan is to construct a purpose-built secure area for the ground maintenance equipment and integrate the replacement electronic score board into the building structure

Why We Need Your Help
We can't play cricket without a scorebox.
Instead of the box we will have to use a small 'flip' scoreboard, and this is too small to see from all round the ground and only displays the bare minimum of information.
We want to give our junior and adult players the best playing experience with a new electronic scoreboard that shows comprehensive information. The LED scorebox will for part of a new structure which will house our outdoor equipment.
The LED scorebox will be visible from all round the ground. It will link into our online scoring app so our website will show the score at the ground in real time whenever a game is being played.

How can you help?
A new LED Scorebox is expensive at £20,000
Its great news that we have been awarded a pledge of £6,000 from Sport England via the Places and Spaces Fund now we need to generate 25% of our target and then go on achieve the target in full.
To help us complete the project we need the support of members, families, friends and the wider community through donations and rewards
We are hoping that members of the club, as well as village residents and people from the wider community, will be able to support our fundraising
However small, any donation you can make will be gratefully received and will help us to reach our target of £20,000
