Aim

Give an Opportunity to People who cannot walk the opportunity to play and enjoy Sport again. To have a Purpose, value and be involved.

Who are we?

Boston Indoor Bowls Club is a very special place in Rural Lincolnshire,  it is not just a bowls club but a Community where people can come and meet others and NEVER BE ALONE, a place where Friendships are made!  

A Place where every visitor is valued as a person, a Club  filled with the sound of conversation, laughing and happiness.

Somewhere people can meet to get away from the issues in their lives, they can meet others whether that be to eat, drink or play Bowls, whatever, Background, Issues, Age, Capability or Disability, everyone is welcome.

Why are we crowdfunding?

Tomorrow Morning you will wake up, get out of bed, go to the toilet clean your teeth and wash your face.

You will do this without thinking, its just an everyday thing. Something you take for granted throughout your life!

But some people will wake up and lay there, their legs do not work, whether that be to a health issue, accident or something else.

What do they do?

Five years ago I ran 50miles in a week, I was very fit and healthy, had an active job, coached and played sports competitively. Did everything a Dad did and loved life.

 The following week I could not walk, my legs had decided not to work anymore. I just laid there scared, alone and afraid.

No one will ever understand the devastation and effect this has on your life.

In an instant my life had changed, I could not do the simple things, things the previous day I took for granted, the biggest of which was walking!

Life was not great not only for me but my family, no longer could I be left alone, Job gone, medical appointments, help with everything, even having to move homes to a Bungalow. I could write a long story but for 18months life was not good for anyone involved with me or my family with such drastic changes to everyone.

Five years on I can walk again, but not far, some days and weeks  I have to stay in bed, it is never easy but I have come to terms with who and what I am.

So Why am I crowdfunding for Electric Disability Wheelchairs for a Bowling Cub you may ask?

Because Bowls gave me the opportunity to play a competitive sport again, purpose, value and a chance to go out and do something again.

I do not require a wheelchair NOW, but I will never forget the last 5 years and my personnel battle. You look at life very differently and begin  to observe things you used to not see.

I want people at my Club who are disabled and who have issues with mobility to be given this magical opportunity-Bowls changed my life and got me back up and about! I desperately want to do this for others. Our facility has many disabled members and our current chairs are no longer fit for purpose and I cannot just watch these people lose their lifeline or there opportunity.

If you gave just £1.....that would help someone to do something which you take for granted, not walk but play a sport again, socialise and have fun, it also gives their family some respite time.

And when you wake up in the morning try to imagine, you cannot got up, it is impossible, unless you have lived it, or are living with it every single moment of your life.

How we’ll spend the money raised

There is no Admin costs or anything just the purchase of 2 new specialist wheelchairs for our facility, more if I can get them.

Community impact

The impact is for Individuals and their families.

Although it will be only for a small amount of people the impact for those is massive! People with genuine lifechanging issues can do something they enjoy and love.

How you can play your part

There are four simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.

1. Make a pledge. Don’t delay if you’re going to support us because momentum is key to our success!

2. Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages and tell the world to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get.
