Aim

We're raising money to fund Stacy's campaign for a seat in Basingstoke Borough Council!

Back Stacy for Hatch Warren & Beggarwood!

Stacy Hart is the Women’s Equality Party candidate for Hatch Warren and Beggarwood in Basingstoke. We're raising money to fund Stacy’s campaign for a seat on the Borough Council.

This year Stacy came within 76 votes of beating the Conservative incumbent. Winning 925 votes to his 1000 votes. NO other candidate from ANY other party has come anywhere close to this!

This stunning result is testament to Stacy's tireless work in the ward which she continues all year-round.

Stacy is our best chance to beat the Conservatives in Hatch Warren and Beggarwood next year; she is poised to win and become the UK’s first Women’s Equality Party Borough Councillor!

Stacy and her team are campaigning to:

Fight for our community/a voice for local people

Hatch Warren and Beggarwood has been taken for granted as a safe Conservative seat for decades. The ward is in dire need of representatives who respond to their constituents and work proactively, imaginatively and independently of party lines on local issues.

Value care work

We saw the true value of care during the pandemic. However, those same services have had their funding reduced or withdrawn, leaving them in crisis, particularly the childcare industry. Caring is essential, skilled and specialist work and it deserves to be valued.

End violence against women and girls

In 2021, Stacy successfully campaigned for Basingstoke and Deane Council to gain White Ribbon accreditation! This means that the council has made a commitment to working with men and boys to challenge the culture that leads to harassment and violence against women.

If elected, Stacy can work to make the White Ribbon action plan a public document, open to scrutiny and assessment, hold the Council accountable in making real change to stop violence against women and girls, and continue to make smart, actionable changes that benefit everyone.

Stacy has also successfully campaigned to make feminist change to Licensing Policy - venues selling alcohol must now consider and mitigate sexual harassment in their establishments.

Fight climate change

WE wrote a plan for feminist-led climate action and as a result, Basingstoke and Deane Council amended their strategy to acknowledge that societal injustice goes hand-in-hand with climate change and must be combated together. Stacy will continue to press for our feminist-led environment strategy to be implemented because equality is better for the environment.

Background: Stacy and the Women’s Equality Party

The Women's Equality Party is a new, collaborative force in British politics, and the only party in the UK with equality at the forefront of everything we do. While the stale, mainstream voices in UK politics are failing, WE unites people of all backgrounds to fight for equality, so that everyone benefits.

Stacy is the leader of the Women's Equality Party Basingstoke branch and is running for Basingstoke Council because WE know that fresh, innovative and diverse perspectives are desperately needed in politics. Politics was never on the agenda for Stacy, but her time as a community volunteer, self-employed worker, and stay-at-home parent has shone a light on the change that we so badly need to see in society.

It's time for real progress. It's time for a truly fresh and independent voice and a collaborative approach to making change. It's time for equality to be put at the heart of local government. Because politics should be for everyone.

Your donation

The Women's Equality Party doesn’t have the backing of big business or the unions to fund our campaigns. We rely on people like you to help us to keep fighting for equality. Any donations you can give us today will make a huge difference in our fight for equality:

£10 will help pay for us to deliver leaflets to spread the word about WEP Basingstoke.

£20 will help pay for digital adverts, meaning we can reach potential voters online.

£50 will help us send 1000 letters to the Hatch Warren & Beggarwood community to tell them more about our campaign.

Your support will ensure that we can fight for equality. Every donation brings us a step closer to a seat in the council and the ability to make real progress. No amount is too small.

The local elections are a great opportunity for everyone to vote for equality and WE need your help.

Thank you for your support.

The legal bit...

As we're a political party we're required to run permissibility checks on donations over £50. These will be completed as you make your donation and therefore we can't accept anonymous donations over £50.

If you give over £500 your details will appear in our election returns, and if you donate over £7,500 your name will appear on the Electoral Commission website.
