In 2017, together, we reduced the SNP majority in Inverclyde from over 11,000 to just 384. I'm asking for support to finish the job I started.
I was born and raised on Dunlop Street in Greenock and now live in Gourock. I’ve never been an elected politician before. But I’ve decided to run in this election. I’m sick of the Tories and the SNP putting their own priorities ahead of the priorities of people in this community.
This election is one of the most important General Elections in my lifetime. It will determine the future of our country for a generation. I'll be fighting for a vision of our country that sees the UK in the EU and Scotland in the UK. I believe our best future can be found by standing and facing challenges together.
I'm standing to do five things:
- DEFEND OUR HOSPITAL – I will oppose any cuts to services at Inverclyde Royal Hospital and other NHS services in this area.
- BACK OUR YOUNG PEOPLE – Our young people need jobs. I will convene a youth employment summit to bring new employers to our area. I will also vote to abolish Universal Credit and replace it with a fairer benefits system that helps people get back into work.
- HELP OUR PENSIONERS – I will vote against any unfair pension changes and vote to bring back the free TV licence for over 75s.
- PROTECT OUR KIDS – We need to get knives and drugs off our streets. I will back action to support families and ensure the police have the resources to deal with offenders.
- WORK TOGETHER – I want us to stay in the EU and the UK. Our time would be better spent working with our friends and allies, not working out how to build more borders.
