Thank you for considering supporting our campaign as we work to make the communities of the Highlands and Islands more prosperous and equal.

Born and raised in Orkney, I first got engaged in politics during the 2014 IndyRef. Seeing a bolder, fairer, and more prosperous vision articulated for our country inspired me to get involved and do what I could to make that future a reality.

After studying at university I came back to Orkney for my masters in Renewable Energy, and got involved in the 2021 Scottish Parliament election. I’m delighted we secured the votes to get Ariane Burgess elected and excited to be running alongside her as one of your lead candidates for the region next year.

In 2022 I stood for election to Orkney Islands Council. The election was not only an exciting time to be working alongside local members, but a great success for the party. We significantly increased our number of councillors and I was grateful to be elected by the people of Kirkwall West & Orphir.

For the last three and a half years I’ve focussed my time in council on renewable energy, regenerative tourism, supporting local businesses, and active travel. In May 2024 my colleagues supported my bid to chair our Development & Infrastructure committee.

Alongside being a local councillor I was previously the policy manager for Community Energy Scotland and led the work on a Fair Energy Deal for Scotland's Communities; A Call to Action.

What drives me to be engaged in politics and my work with community energy is the same - a core belief that the energy transition must create prosperous, thriving communities in the Highlands and Islands.

The economic opportunities for our communities are huge, but so are the challenges we face in rural and island Scotland. Escalating cost of living and cost of public service delivery, depopulation and ageing demographics, and communities which are struggling to maintain vibrant town centres and amenities. Combined with a housing crisis, we have a lot of work ahead of us. Another Scottish Green MSP in our region hugely increases our ability to fight for that prosperous future, and for our rural and island communities.

This context we find ourselves in is what has driven so much of my work in Orkney, and what drives me to bring that experience and vision to the wider Highlands & Islands.

We have such assets in our communities from storing cultural identities to an entrepreneurial spirit across the region. By working together we can maximise our potential in the region and create a greener, more just, and more prosperous region.

Thank you for considering supporting our campaign, and please get in touch if you’d like to get more involved.
