Everyone knows the Green Party has the best policies on nature and climate - but those aren’t the only things we care about. On these and so many issues, it’s only the Green party standing strong on bold policies for real change - not just minor tweaks around the edges of a failed, broken system.

As the other parties slide ever closer to the Conservatives, the Green Party has remained a strong voice for the bold, transformative policies we desperately need. We have always been consistent on everything from ending sewage dumping to climate action, cutting bills to tackling inequality, calling for a ceasefire to supporting public services. 

This time round, voters don’t need to vote tactically against the worst option – with the Conservatives set to lose in a landslide, we can finally vote for the policies, people and parties we believe in. There has never been a better time to support the Greens in a General Election, not just local elections.

Why support Claire in Farnham & Bordon?

Claire is actively involved with local projects and community work in and around Haslemere. A Town Councillor since 2019, she has spearheaded community projects that improve life for both residents and our environment, involved with setting up and running local covid response initiatives – such as haslemerehelp and the Haslemere Community Store and  leading the establishment of the Water Rangers Water Quality Testing Haslemere Hub, aiming to take action and  make a discernible difference. 

A Haslemere resident for over 20 years, she previously lived in Whitehill where her daughter attended Woodlea Primary School and where she was Committee Secretary of Bordon’s Alexandra Preschool, her son’s nursery.

With an extensive background in family support and Early Years Education, Claire worked for 10 years at the Tennyson's Sure Start Children's Centre in Haslemere until 2019 when the centre was closed. The withdrawal of this valuable support service, alongside numerous other government cuts, was one of the galvanising forces that drove her to  get involved in local politics. Claire wants to see more Government-funded services that make a real difference to the lives of residents of all ages.

Taking water back into public hands

We must take water back into public ownership to be run for the public good, not private profit. This is the only way to end sewage dumping, clean up our waterways, cut bills , invest properly in infrastructure, and stop the endless water outages.

Ending NHS privatisation and restoring proper funding 

We are the only party that will reverse NHS privatisation. We will also put mental health on parity with physical health, make all essential dentistry free, and invest in social and community care.

Investing in insulation and cheap, clean power

Insulate all homes as soon as possible to cut bills and health problems, and help end fuel poverty. Invest in cheap, clean renewables for genuine energy security and an end to expensive, polluting fossil fuels.

Fair and secure housing for all

Homes built for people, not profit – good quality, energy-efficient, and in the right places. Allow councils to take empty buildings back into public use.

Championing true democracy

Bring in Proportional Representation so that all votes matter, and our government actually reflects what people vote for.

Supporting public transport

Take public transport back into public hands to cut fares and improve services, ending reliance on cars and cutting traffic and air pollution caused by our lack of safe,accessible, affordable alternatives.

Fair tax system

Introduce a wealth tax on billionaires to raise over £50bn a year to support spending on public services and tackling inequality.
