We are campaigning to win the St Mark's + St Peter's County Council seat after a sudden by-election announcement from the Liberal Democrats.
The Liberal Democrats have triggered a by-election for the Gloucestershire County Council seat in St Mark's and St Peter's, which will now take place on the same date as the Borough Council elections across Cheltenham on the 7th May. This means that if you live in St Mark's or St Peter's, you will have two separate ballots to vote in, and two Green Party Candidates to vote for! 💚
At Borough Council level, we can now confirm that John Jarvis will be your candidate in St Peter's, and Kieran Scott will be your candidate in St Mark's! You can find out more information on each candidate on our website and by following our social media accounts so please follow us to stay notified!
Our County Council candidate for St Mark's and St Peter's will be the amazing Bowie Johnstone, a committed and passionate local political campaigner. Bowie understand deeply the importance of community and the networks that support us when we are in need. Today, politics often feels disconnected from our everyday lives, and Bowie wants to change that. Bowie is standing to ensure we hold the Lib Dem council accountable, to fight for better roads and social care, and to make sure the next generation receives the education they deserve.
To win this campaign, we need your help! The Cheltenham Green Party has launched an ambitious campaign across Cheltenham for Borough Council elections and we are grateful to have support from brilliant neighbouring Green Parties in Gloucestershire for this seat. However, this will not be enough on it's own - we will need an extra financial boost to ensure we make it over the line!
Therefore, if these is any additional financial support that our supporters can provide for this campaign, it could make all the difference on election day in May! Please consider donating so we can print more material, organise logistics and collaborate more efficiently across Cheltenham over the next month!
Plus, a generous local donor has agreed to match donations up to a total of £700 so we are setting that number as our fundraising target for this campaign!
P.S. Because we're a political party....
We're required to run electoral register checks from people making donations above £500, and if you donate over £1,500 during a year, we are required to let the Electoral Commission know, who will make this available on their website. All donations go to general Green Party funds.
