Elect land and democracy campaigner, Andy Wightman, to the Scottish Parliament on May 5th 2016.
This May 5th we're committed to electing Scotland's foremost land and democracy researcher, commentator and campaigner Andy Wightman to the Scottish Parliament.
It's
now 20 years since Andy published his first book 'Who Owns Scotland', which along with his latest book, 'The Poor Had No Lawyers', helped to propel the issue of land reform into the mainstream.
From the difficulty communities face in buying out absentee landlords, to the lack of rights tenant farmers hold, to derelict land in cities being left untaxed (costing £300 million a year and incentivising companies to leave land undeveloped), this is an issue that impacts every person in our country.
Today Andy continues to be a leading voice of the growing movement for land reform across Scotland. he uses this postion to call on the Scottish Government to go much further in tackling these injustices than it currently plans.
Andy also represented the Scottish Green Party on the Commission on Local Tax Reform, where he was a key figure in the campaign to abolish the unfair, outdated and regressive Council Tax.
If Andy's elected this May he will lead the Scottish Green Party on Communities, Local Government & Land Reform in the Scottish Parliament. We think this is something the Parliament badly needs if we want it to pursue real, radical change. If you'd like to see a bolder, more radical Scotland, please help by donating what you can.

Our record in the Scottish Parliament is unparalleled. So it isn't surprising that despite only having 2 MSPs the Scottish Greens are seen as the best opposition party in the country. Thanks to our successes polling now suggests that we could quadruple that number or better, and just imagine what we could accomplish with that! But if we want to make that a reality we need your support.
To get enough votes on the regional list to see Andy elected we'll need posters, banners, advertising, equipment, professional staff, and tens of thousands of leaflets. Greens don't have rich donors or the backing of multinational corporations, but what we do have is the backing of hundreds of thousands of Scots who want to see a bolder Scotland and a better world. That's why we are asking you to donate what you can towards our target of £2,000.
Do you have any questions about Andy's campaign, or would you like to join the team?
