After a summer apart, best friends Anna and Sophie reunite and find themselves discovering the true value of their friendship.

When Sophie arrives home from a disappointing holiday to France after her A Levels, she soon learns that her best friend, Anna, has had the summer of her dreams without her and replaced her with a mystery boy, Ollie, who seems too good to be true. Yet, confusion and chaos at a friend’s party in the evening exposes his true nature, forcing the girls to acknowledge that their love for each other is far more powerful than a fleeting summer romance.

Working with the conventions of the typical coming-of-age plotline, the film aims to spotlight and commemorate the necessity of female friendship in that liminal period of time when you escape the clutches of secondary school and are pushed into the arms of adulthood. Anna and Sophie are forced to navigate a newfound sense of independence, learning who they are and what love might entail for the first time.

But, the film does not intend on trivialising what is such a strange and confusing time for so many young people. ‘Eighteen’ highlights the narcissistic, naive, chaotic, muddled nature of being young and yet also elevates the caring, compassionate qualities of the characters, drawing the audience’s attention to how the friendship between the girls is never straightforward. This story is supposed to feel true. Sophie and Anna are supposed to reflect real people, real friendships and we hope we have done justice to them. We can’t wait for the world to meet these complicated, compelling, wonderful young women.

We are proud to have worked with such a talented team of 18-21 year old actors and filmmakers during the production of 'Eighteen' - especially considering the current climate, as this project was developed entirely during the Covid - 19 crisis.
We are also excited to be collaborating with up and coming artists Mia & Poppy who will be providing the sound track for 'Eighteen'. Go check them out here on Spotify!

Your donations will help us make this film the best it can be. As we have already filmed 'Eighteen' the funds we raise will go solely towards completing the film by paying for a brilliant edit, colour grade and sound design as well as marketing and distributing 'Eighteen' via film festivals.
We want to get our film out and seen by as many people as possible and you can help us do that!
