A NEW SATURDAY MARKET FOR BETHNAL GREEN ROAD!

"Cheeky chappy, bring it backy!" Nev Pellicci.

Your support will enable the family of founding Guild members on Bethnal Green Road to build a new Saturday Market!

Most people won't get a foot in the door to try out their ideas with the high rents in the East End these days. Now with your help and together with our community anchors E. Pellicci, Oxford House, Newmans Stationery, London Borough of Tower Hamlets and other local organisations & businesses, we can all work together to deliver essential opportunities for local people and by doing so start to build a thriving market that will breath new life onto Bethnal Green Road!

The East End of London has a rich history of entrepreneurialism and street markets, driven by both necessity and ingenuity. Local people have always demonstrated a remarkable ability to adapt and innovate. Now let's honour that and stand together proudly to build a new Saturday tradition for our neighbourhood!

WHAT REWARDS ARE THERE?

If you can chip a fiver or less, this is still MASSIVELY valued! All contributions help us reach our goal! It's ordinary people pulling together that get the job done. If all Pellicci's social followers chipped in a fiver, we'd smash our target straight away! Pledge a tenner to be invited to a party to celebrate all our hard work at Oxford House in December. With food, music and raffle prizes from stall holders and Guild members! Who knows, maybe even a mystery Guest!

A limited set of rewards is listed on the side of this page! James Brown (EETG Logo Creator) is hand-printing his design! Each print is a one-off! E. Pellicci T-shirts may vary in design according to availability. There is also our much-coveted EETG Tote Bag from Gardner's!

WHAT WE CAN DELIVER WITH YOUR SUPPORT!

To pilot Anna Pellicci's brilliant idea, we will start small with achievable goals, aiming to expand the number of stalls in Spring 2026 and gain valuable insights from the first six months from July to December 2025. With your help, we can remove barriers for traders and absorb the cost of the pitch fees and licences for the first phase and cover EETG staff, logistics and marketing costs to deliver the following:

PHASE 1: JULY TO DECEMBER

SIX STALLS EVERY MONTH FROM JULY. Our members, Pellicci's, Oxford House and Newmans Stationery have told us that they want to support a diverse set of traders with arts, crafts, fashion, & more! A broad mix of backgrounds and ages, the more established and experienced traders and members encourage and support younger people to test out their ideas.

TWO TRADER LEARNING SOCIALS AT OXFORD HOUSE. The EETG has a kaleidoscopic range of members possessing a deep well of skills and experience that can be utilised to support market traders. Our learning socials will facilitate them to improve and lead the pilot market with support from the Guild, and learn skills from a peer group of members and partners.

MARKETING. We need to work together with traders to advertise the market through social media, with photography and video content.

PHASE 2: JANUARY TO MARCH 2026

EVALUATE & PLAN. Working together, we can evaluate what went well and what we can do better in Spring 2026. We will write a business plan for the market based on learning from the pilot to secure ongoing funding from local sponsors and other sources to grow the market, improving support for traders and members of the Guild.

PHASE 3: JUNE TO DECEMBER 2026

RELAUNCH THE MARKET WITH MORE STALLS! We aim to build something that will last, starting small and growing sustainably over time.

WHAT IS THE EAST END TRADES GUILD?

The Guild is an alliance of 400 small businesses, socially trading organisations and the self-employed that aims to help create a bridge towards a fair, inclusive, and sustainable economy.

We enable members to act together according to their common interests, build trust and enhance economic resilience and well-being. Rooted in the Community Organising approach, the Guild harnesses public support to target decision-makers for action to develop the solidarity economy and to maintain the cultural, social, and environmental value that members inject into neighbourhoods.

Our socials, collective actions, and workshops cultivate community wealth by strengthening solidarity and collaboration between local small businesses from diverse communities. By taking action on our Manifesto for the New Economy, we achieve our mission with tangible goals.

Our biggest learning working on markets is to collaborate with local organisations and businesses as much as possible! Our founding members and anchor organisations, Oxford House, Newmans Stationery and E.Pellicci on Bethnal Green Road, will be key to making this market a success.

Here are photographs taken by Jeremy Freedman of some traders we have worked with before, Katherina Gruber - Pylon Ceramics, splendid Pearly Queen & King, Yeukai Makoni from Empyah and Finn Yvo, a local Artist.
