(Raising Education Training Costs for Kevah Outerbridge who is a Domestic Violence and Abuse Survivor.) Kevah Outerbridge who is a Bermudian but living in the United Kingdom. Kevah Outerbridge is a survivor of Domestic Abuse and has been doing various counselling courses and training to help with her journey of healing and empowerment. I am helping her to raise money for her education training cost. The programme she will be enrolling in is a facilitators’ training course on Domestic Violence and Abuse offered by the “Freedom Programme” organization based in the United Kingdom.

At this time, she is ready to be trained as a facilitator in bringing awareness of violence against men and women to the greater community. She is hoping to return to Bermuda, stronger, and as an advocate to bring her trained skills to further help victims of Domestic Violence and Abuse on island. The DVA Facilitators Programme will be offered in the United Kingdom via zoom during this time of Covid-19. The course starts in January 2021, but payment needs to be made in December. We are asking you to help her raise £600 pounds (approx. $775 USD) to cover her training costs.

Read Kevah’s message below:

"Good Day I am seeking help to cover the cost for a training programme. The course that I am seeking to do is The Freedom Programme this course will allow me to bring the knowledge I obtain to Bermuda and help people who are going through DVA. Once I obtain this training, I would then be able to push this training in Bermuda also via zoom.

But with everything going on in my life right now, I am just not able to pay for anything. I do not even have a pound in my bank account, so it is pretty hard, but I had to get away from abuse from my neighbours. (Separate situation) have been dealing with abuse from a set of neighbours for 2 years and that situation alone has drained me. So, this move during Covid-19 meant everything. Meant I was able to get my family away and start to grow. I moved to the United Kingdom in 2016 and I fled Bermuda because of the abuse, I felt the system was not protecting me and there was nothing in place even with the evidence there was nothing in place to stop things that was taking place. So, I fled to the United Kingdom. Since being in the United Kingdom I was working 2 full time jobs which I loved dearly but had to give one up because of the distance so I ended up working one.

2018 I was going through domestic abuse and the relationship was very toxic to where I had to leave my job and flee to a refuge which I stayed in for a few months as I was ready to get a place as I found out I was pregnant. Living in the refuge and having to give up my job I was only receiving £400 a month and it has not been and easy journey for the last 2 years and living on benefits. This is by far the worst time and also dealing with covid-19. While being in the refuge I’ve had to get a DRO which I have technically made myself bankrupt for 6 years because there was just no way I was able to pay off anything only receiving £400 a month with 1 child and 1 on the way.

This donation would help me so much because this is something I sit here and just wish I can do. I have tried to go back to college but because I have 2 small children under the age of 5 years age and the course I urgently had to do to get back into college is nights there is just no way I could do that leaving my children with an unknown stranger from 6pm-9pm. So, I have accepted that and now pushing to do this programme. I just want to thank everyone who has taken the time to read this thank you all again very much."

Your donation will help Kevah in her journey of empowerment as a survivor, mother, and woman. You will help her obtain higher education and help her become an educator and advocator.
