Aim: We educate and engage young people to achieve qualifications and life skills empowering them to secure employment.
Our mission is to EDUCATE disadvantaged young women with a variety of qualifications required for the local job market. ENGAGE young women in social activities and workshops supporting their development of fundamental life and employability skills such as time management, team working, resilience, budgeting. EMPOWER young people to build confidence, identify their strengths and raise career aspirations . Support more young people into good EMPLOYMENT , thereby breaking the poverty circle and allowing them to lead financial stable futures.
The Orthodox Jewish young women from the Salford community who have left school are not yet ripe for employment and greatly benefit from our training and activities which is critical for their development and preparation for employment. Additionally, they have many barriers to employment such as lack of recognised Level 3 qualifications and minimal or no IT skills.
Many of these young women come from families who are financially challenged thus limiting their options for further training. Furthermore, they require female only and culturally appropriate settings for education and employment.
Across Salford, young women are struggling with mental health issues which needs to be addresses as part of any youth programme.
Local young people and employers have identified the need and requested that we deliver courses tailored to meet the local workplace insufficiencies thereby supporting young people achieve qualifications that are in demand. As an example, Childcare Level 3 which is a much-needed qualification in the local community since there are many nurseries and childminders, and there is currently no course in the community to qualify school leavers as licensed early years practitioners. We aim to bridge the gap, getting more young people qualified and supporting the local childminders with qualified staff. The courses we deliver are direct stepping stones from school into the job market without the need to go to university or other further training that our young people can’t afford or may not have the ability to attend due to cultural reasons, academic capabilities and finance.
