Aim

Based at the world's oldest active passenger railway station, Metal provide a programme of arts, food and gardening for the local community

At Edge Hill Station, Metal and a host of brilliant volunteers have worked together to turn an abandoned part of the station into a beautiful arts-led community garden.

Based at the oldest active passenger railway station in the world, the garden was redeveloped earlier this year to host a yearlong programme of art, food and gardening.

Throughout the course of 2017, we’re exploring how public green spaces benefit our day-to-day lives and can drive awareness of environmental sustainability. We’ve also redeveloped the garden's railway arches into artist studios and garden training facilities.

This funding will enable us to install solar panels which will provide much needed energy to the garden and arches. This will then enable us to offer activities, opportnities and events throughout the year at any time of day.

The energy will provide lighting, heating and stored electricity for volunteers, staff, visitors and artisits in residence. Critically we will be able to expand our opening hours into the evening and during winter, hosting event and promoting healthy outdoor activities to our local community all year round. The installation of solar panels will also enable artists to work in residence, and give talks and workshops for our local community throughout the year.

Please help us raise funds for Edge Hill Station Garden's future events and VOTE FOR US! Thank you!
