Raise the entry fee to be a part of the 2026 Pride Parade in Brighton!
WHO WE ARE:
Hi! We run Ecstatic Dance Brighton.
Ecstatic Dance is a sober and drug free dance/movement experience with live DJs and musicians. It is a place to reconnect with your body and express yourself no matter your age, skill or who you are!
We are a community-driven project fueled by volunteers and a shared passion for authentic self-expression to music. Our DJs create multi genre music journeys which can be fun, wild, gentle, healing and everything in between.
Our core ethos is barefoot, sober embodiment with no judgement. We create a sanctuary where the only thing that matters is the connection to the music, body and one another!
We represent the LGBTQ+ community from the inside out. Over half of our core community, including some of our resident DJs and organisers, identify as LGBTQ+.
We support the community by providing a sober sanctuary: In a world where LGBTQ+ social life often centres around bars and clubs, we offer a vital, substance-free space where people can connect deeply without the presence of alcohol or drugs.
Radical self-expression: We actively encourage our dancers to express their gender identity and personal style through clothing and movement, free from the "gaze" of traditional social settings. Total anonymity and equality: On our dance floor, age, gender, and background disappear.
We provide a safe "container" where members of the LGBTQ+ community can explore their bodies and identities in a space founded on mutual respect and safety.
WHY WE ARE CROWDFUNDING:
One of our regular dancers approached us with the idea to take part in this years Brighton Pride Parade - they really appreciate Ecstatic Dance as a place they feel safe to freely express themselves and to connect with like minded others, and how this aligns with the ethos of Pride. They thought it would be meaningful to show our support for the Pride community and also a lot of fun to dance in the Parade. We agreed!
Our application has been accepted and we now have 2 weeks to raise the £600 needed to take part in the parade!
HOW IT WORKS:
There are 50 spaces available in the parade. Choose the £12 reward to be gifted a space in the parade - or gift it to someone else - any extra funds donated will go towards costumes and refreshments for parade participants, or if there is a large surplus, towards updating our equipment. Children are welcome to join as part of the allocated 50 dancers. (Ps you do not need to identify as LGBQT+ to take part!)
Our deadline to pay the entrance fee is 2nd May. We aim to raise most of the cost by then and let the campaign continue to raise any extra needed. If we are not able to raise the total needed all donations will be returned.
