Aim
To create a zero waste shop that suits Orkney. A range of ethical essential goods chosen to reduce the impact on people and our planet ????
What do we want refills, when do we want them? Yesterday!

I have always been an islander at heart. Living on an island has its challenges (not just the weather!). But sometimes it takes us a little longer to get what we need. To be seen and to be heard. We know first hand the impact that climate change will have on our island. We feel it in our waters *ahem* so to speak as they beach the sea wall!
___What's the Problem___
It can be difficult to source ethical goods that address social and climate problems in one location. We want to be Orkney's first zero waste shop. Focusing on essential items like food, cleaning and hygiene products. Not just items that are good for the planet but for the people that make them.
We can do it with poly bags we can do it with anything. Did you know that the 5p tax on carrier bags removed 9 billion bags from circulation in its first year? That it reduced plastic bag pollution in UK waters by 50%? Small action, massive impact.
We promise to stock Only goods that do good. Goods that are:
- ethically sourced
- Sustainably made
- Support other small businesses
- Reusable not disposable
- Not made of plastic
- Things you need
- Support environmental rehabilitation
- Make you feel good
- As affordable as possible

We know what it's like to feel like a small fish in a large pond and how difficult it feels to make the right choices. Which is why we want to source our goods from other small businesses. That way we can trace how it got here, what social purposes the produces support and how they are reducing their impact on the planet too.
We want to open the conversation wider in Orkney and support the good choices they are already making. We would love to run education and workshop sessions for you, learn how to grow, make and mend your own items. Also learn fully about the impacts your decisions as an individual are. How important you are.
Shopping ethically can be more expensive, we want to make as many items as affordable as we can and have options for every budget. We want you to know the real cost of your spend and feel empowered by your choices and informed about the real cost of disposable items.

Be picky with your pound. We want to account for our social impact and report on our carbon footprint. If we can do so can other enterprises and when we are all doing and bingo.
