Environmental charity supporting local churches and volunteers across Scotland to care and act for God’s creation.

Eco-Congregation Scotland

We need your support now - Eco-Congregation Scotland is facing financial pressures

There has never been a greater need for us to encourage churches in environmental action – but we need urgent financial support now to continue this work. We appeal to our membership and wider supporters for additional funding of £15,000 in 2024 due to a reduction in grant funding.

This is a critical year for our future. Due to an end to core funding we need to restructure, asking our band of volunteers to do more to deliver activities in spiritual, practical, and global living through local eco-congregations in every region of Scotland, but with less administrative and specialist support. Our website needs a complete overhaul.

Craigsbank and Corstorphine Church campaigners for "Justice for All Creation" - and our EcoChaplain visiting The Salvation Army in Shetland polytunnel with volunteers.

There are now over 620 churches registered as eco-congregations, ranging across 16 denominations - around one-in-six of all Scotland’s churches - but only 140 contribute regularly to our funding.

Registrations of congregations continue to grow and demand for support remains high. We have been applying for new grants from charitable trusts and foundations, but so far have not yet been successful in securing the resources we need to maintain our work. We have continued operating by using up our reserves and we are now operating with only part-time staff.

St Ninian and St Cuthbert's Parish, Hamilton: Bishop Joseph Toal joins parishioners to receive their Eco-Congregation Scotland Silver Award.

Please donate now to enable us to restructure and continue the vital work of supporting churches and volunteers in faith action for climate and nature.

Every pound you give will go directly to supporting the charity to resource and enable churches in environmental activities across the country.

By making a donation today, you’ll help us sustain our national movement. Your support is more vital now than ever. Thank you.

Our church held a quiz in support of Eco Congregations after our Harvest lunch. In typical fashion, I didn't have any cash on me, so please accept this contribution in lieu of that.
