Like many small businesses we often lack funds to outsource more jobs which holds back our ability to grow. It also means we are unable to employ more people and provide work to those who need it. Even the video for this Crowdfunder page was filmed and edited by Megan and Rose. We have had plans for a while now to provide work to those who may struggle in a traditional job. Jobs such as making up seed packets and sewing sacks could easily be done by people at home. We have done this with sack sewing previously but poor Megan got stuck as the sole person with this job in lockdown! Rose has chronic health issues and understands the need to balance personal health with work and that you can't predict which days are going to be good days. So working out a way we can provide flexible working to others has always been part of the vision.
We want to reconnect people with food, nature and each other.
Our mission is to make homegrown food accessible to more people. You don't need a degree in horticulture to grow food and we are on a mission to help people, regardless of what space or time limitations they may have. Many people lack space to grow, we are living in generation rent with many people not allowed to grow food in their gardens. We also have seen a rise in hard landscaping such as patios, gravel and tarmac but our coffee sack growing kits can be used on these!
We see a future where homegrown food is the new normal and people find themselves reconnected with nature and food. We don't expect to stop people shopping for food, but growing some of your own food is beneficial in so many ways. The sense of satisfaction of growing from seed to plate and enjoying the flavours of a freshly plucked tomato is in my eyes, hard to beat!
We see a future where growing food helps break social isolation. Food growing is a great talking point to help you engage in conversations with your neighbours whilst sharing the fruits of your labour. It's also perfectly normal to name your plants and talk to them regularly, it's even scientifically proven to help plants grow!
Our coffee sacks are collected from a local coffee roaster in Nottingham. For every one we take we donate 50p to The Brain Tumour Charity. In the UK many coffee sacks end up in landfill, we select ones which are pure natural materials, usually jute and that contain no plastic. They are all unique and are hand sewn with natural jute twine to create your growing space. We supply everything you need except the compost to fill the sack. Our kits include everything you need to get started except the compost for the coffee sacks. Inside each kit will be information on choosing good compost and avoiding peat.
All prices shown below include free delivery within the UK.

With your help, we can increase our capacity by growing our team. By doing pre-orders we can create the capacity to match our orders in the New Year and provide work for people.
If you have any questions please message us through Crowdfunder or using the email [email protected].
Thank you
