Aim

Our School has embraced the Outdoor Play and Leaning (OPAL) ethos and is tackling climate change through education and direct action.

We are a charity that exclusively fundraised to benefit the children of St. Michael's CofE Primary School in Stoke Gifford, North Bristol.  Through our various fundraising activities we generate funds to provide educational resources, equipment and to fund excursions for the children at our school.  In addition, we fundraise for specific larger projects that not only benefit the children at our school, but also have a positive impact on the broader community and local environment.

An example of this is our eco-garden, which will be used as an education tool for the children at our school, learning about the ecology and the environment, food science and the importance of the natural environment to agriculture and food production, understanding our world and developing and enacting student led projects that directly impact climate change in our local community.  Our school is embracing the Outdoor Play and Learning (OPAL) philosophy, which encourages the children to play and learn together outdoors in stimulating, natural surroundings while learning about all of these environmental topics in the outdoor learning spaces that we are trying to build.

Projects that the students have started put in place include, a re-wilding project for part of our playing fields and the pond within our school grounds, new hedging within the school creating habitats and wildlife highways for various species that we have in our local area, including hedgehogs, badgers and foxes.  New ideas for both our school and the broader community will directly tackle climate change at the local level, through education and community outreach via our amazing student population.
