Help us include families who can't attend our sessions by funding an e-cargo bike to deliver learning through play boxes on the Wirral

by Wirral Unplugged in Birkenhead, Merseyside, United Kingdom

Since 2019, we've been using a bike and donated trailer to drop off boxes and bring our materials to events. Our events are amazing opportunities for families to look after their mental health and explore new topics and ideas through play.

But what if you can't come to us? How can we include everyone?

Our answer: We create boxes with +10 hours of play so that all families can participate and we deliver them across the Wirral!

The Challenge: During Easter, we delivered 90 boxes and covered an impressive 120 miles over 5 days using a borrowed e-cargo bike. It became evident that the demand for our services was growing, and our regular bike couldn't handle the increased miles without assistance. To continue serving our community, we need our own e-cargo bike.

One crucial insight we gained during Easter, was the significant impact our box delivery service had on families. Many parents and caregivers shared with us that anxiety, sleep deprivation, and complex needs often prevented them from attending events in person. However, our box offer allowed them to participate as a family, ensuring that their children still had access to engaging and enriching activities.

Feedback we received from carers regarding the boxes has been overwhelmingly positive, with statements such as:

"Amazing thought and effort in each box. They have some amazing ideas for games and activities in each box."

"This box has helped bring my son out of his shell a little bit during 1:1, which is amazing." -

"Variety of fun activities." - "The level of interactivity and the amount of things to do."

"It was a very exciting and special box, full of wonderful, fun, and educational activities and information about Space. My Son and I were able to interact with one another. It was amazing, thank you!!"

This feedback reinforces the value and impact of our box delivery service, highlighting the joy, engagement, and educational opportunities it brings to families. With your support and funding, we can continue expanding our initiative, reaching more families, and creating an even greater positive impact in the community. We invite you to join us in our mission to help us make a lasting difference in the lives of families. Together, we can build a sustainable, inclusive, and engaging future.

Why an ecargo bike?

Cost:  eCargo bikes are much cheaper to run than a car! This will allow us to continue to channel our funding for people and boxes, instead of transport.

Environment: By replacing traditional delivery vehicles with this eco-friendly alternative, we can uphold our commitment to people and the planet.

Your support will enable us to continue providing inclusive services, reaching families all across the Wirral and fostering a sense of belonging and connection within our community.
