Our clubhouse renovation project has taken on a whole new level of urgency due to some catastrophic damage over the Christmas period!
Easton Cricket Club is a community club whose aim is to promote the sport of cricket at all levels, both young and old. We currently have a playing membership of over 150 players and run 3 Men's Teams, a Ladies Team and Junior Teams at U9, U11, U13 and U15. In 2023 we will also add a U11/U13 Girls Team. We welcome players of all abilities and do our best to 'play hard, play fair, but above all enjoy!'.

We feel privileged to play at one of the most picturesque grounds in the region and with a club dating back to 1906 we are keen to provide a sustainable future both on and off the field for another 100 years to come.
Over the Christmas period there was a serious water leak in the Clubhouse that as you can see below has caused untold damage to the changing rooms and surrounding areas. What about insurance I hear you cry! My words exactly and unfortunately, to put it mildly, we have been denied our claim due to a technicality in our policy and so are left holding the bill. We have 11 weeks until the season starts and so need to act quickly!

We are looking to raise £17,000 to complete the immediate remedial work required to get us ready for the start of the season and as a stretch target an additional £10,000 to update the main clubhouse room.
The 1st XI is undoubtedly important to the success and profile of the club but we are equally proud of our Ladies Team and we have a thriving Junior section of 100 players that continues to go from strength to strength. We are not taking this for granted however, and will be visiting local schools prior to and during the upcoming season to ensure we have as diverse a membership as possible. Whether our young players have aspirations of professional cricket, representative county cricket or just want to enjoy the game with their school friends, we are keen for players of all abilities to feel welcome and have a home at Easton.

Building on the recent rise in popularity of the women’s game we also see an opportunity to increase the number of girls playing cricket at the club and so this will be a priority moving forward, ensuring a pipeline of talent for our Ladies Team. For the 2023 season, we will have a new U11/U13 girls squad and running taster sessions for curious and wanting to give cricket a go.

Unknown to many, Easton has a rich history with Sir Pelham Warner (Captain of England in 1903-04 and MCC President), Bernard Bosanquet (Middlesex and inventor of the Googly) both having represented the club in its formative years. In the last 10 years alone Easton has played a role in the early careers of three first class cricketers, the last of which, Freddie Heldreich, has recently been signed for Northants. Celebrating this history and the colourful legacy of past players and characters is important and will be a focus following the renovation of the clubhouse.

Easton Cricket Club has the potential to not only be the best club in the area but also a social hub for the local community, and we are looking to continue with local events, such as the one we hosted in August, to attract more visitors to the ground to enjoy the bucolic setting.

There are three simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.
1. Make a pledge. Don’t delay if you’re going to support us because as you can see we are up against it to be ready in time!
2. Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages and tell your friends and family to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get.
3. Offer rewards. Get involved if you are a local business by donating things we can offer to our supporters. We will give you a shout out!
