Aim: We have not had a working scoreboard for 3 years! A large scoreboard to give immediate times & results is fundamental to competitive galas.

Eastbourne Swimming Club began in 1866 and is one of Sussex's leading competitive clubs with teams producing exceptional results at major swimming events throughout the UK.

Eastbourne has had one of its most successful years in recent history. A record number of 40 swimmers qualified for Sussex County Championships swimming in 247 events! A record-breaking year at the South East Regional Championships with 19 swimmers in 52 events. We are also hopeful this year will be a record for National qualifiers. These high stake individual achievements along with Team Eastbourne now competing in division 1 for both Sussex League and Arena National league is a massive achievement for our Club.

Just this month Eastbourne was awarded the SUSSEX COUNTY ASA - CLUB OF THE YEAR!!

We are missing one thing... an aquatic scoreboard to give swimmers & spectators immediate times & results.

Imagine competing in a race and finishing so close to your opponent that no one could tell who touched first. The board is essential to swimmers and spectators. Without one our swimmers are having to wait for results. Without one we are unable to host competitions that appeal to the level of competition our swimmers need.

Why are we crowdfunding?

For the last three years we have been without a scoreboard at our home pool, The Sovereign Centre Eastbourne.

Competitive swimming relies on technology. Frequently our swimmers can be separated by several hundredths of a second and seeing those instant times and placings is a huge part of racing.  Recently the club has invested in the very latest touch-pad timing systems. Whilst these results are captured by our computer system, it is not instantly accessible to swimmers or spectators.  We need to be able to publish race results quickly and accurately to the swimmers, their teams and spectators in the gallery.

How we’ll spend the money raised

All money raised will go directly to purchasing a scoreboard, installing and setting up the system and any upkeep that may be required. A new scoreboard is going to cost us £12k, we just had a presentation demo of what the scoreboard would look like and the facilities and benefits it will offer.

Community impact

We pride ourselves on being a community club. Most of our members are from the local area and we regularly hold swim events attracting swimmers from all over the county.

Our club not only has some of the best swimmers in Sussex and the South East, we also have a large group of volunteers and officials who are trained through the club and make putting on the events possible.

How you can play your part

There are four simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.

1. Make a pledge. Don’t delay if you’re going to support us because momentum is key to our success!

2. Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages and tell the world to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get.

3. Get involved and convinced others to pledge and donate.

4. Fund-raise for us. If you want to run your own fundraiser – maybe a sponsored activity or similar – use the 'contact project' button at the top of our page to let us know. Setting up your own page only takes a few minutes and you won’t need any bank details. Just a fun idea!
