Aim: Raising emergency funds for East Elmbridge Foodbank to deal with the increased demand from people in crisis at this time.
East Elmbridge Foodbank is part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.
Last year we supported over 200 individuals and families with more than 1,000 emergency food parcels. The impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the numbers of those needing assistance from our foodbank is already evident with demand nearly three times the normal level.
We need your help urgently to provide the funds to purchase food from wholesale suppliers to replenish our stocks.
Please donate to this Crowdfunder project to ensure we can continue to provide emergency food and other essential items for those in crisis at this time.
Thank you so much for your support at this time of need.
The East Elmbridge Foodbank was established in 2012 as part of the NESTA funded Lower Green Neighbourhood Challenge. It was supported by a group of people from local churches who recognised that, despite the affluence of the Borough (often referred to as the ‘Beverly Hills of Britain), there were many people who were struggling on low incomes for whom food poverty was a reality.
In 2016, the Foodbank moved to its present location at Esher Green Baptist Church, where the main store is located. Prior to the crisis we ran two sessions a week – one from Esher and the other from St Peter’s Church in West Molesey.
The Foodbank is under the governance of the PCC of St Peter’s West Molesey (which has ‘excepted’ charitable status under the Charity Commission regulations). We have a part-time Foodbank Coordinator who manages a team of volunteers who help organise our food donations and run our foodbank sessions.
We maintain links with all the local churches and other statutory and voluntary organisations in East Elmbridge and are very grateful for their support.
