East Cheshire Harriers and Tameside Athletics Club

East Cheshire Harriers and Tameside Athletics Club was founded in 1922 by an amalgamation of Dukinfield Harriers and Tintwistle Harriers.

East Cheshire Harriers & Tameside AC have qualified and dedicated coaches, both male and female, who are responsible for athletes ranging from 8 year old juniors to senior athletes.

East Cheshire is a club with a long and distinguished history but it is also a club looking to the future. We have improved and extended the facilities offered to our members further so that more people than ever can enjoy taking part in athletics at club level.

Stadium Uses

•    Children/Adult coached sessions both Track and Field

•    Couch to 5K group

•    Tameside schools cross country Championships

•    Social and Competitive Running

•    Athletes of all abilities from beginners to International Athletes

Why we’re crowdfunding.....

The club leases the Athletics stadium from the local council. The floodlighting system installed is aged and has been condemned and no longer provides sufficient lighting. The cost of repair to the system is quoted at over £80k, Together with sport England, Tameside Council funds have been raised but there is still a significant shortfall short fall.

Dangers

Without these floodlights working, the club would have to close the stadium during the winter months as the dark nights make it a safety risk to operate within the stadium itself.
