About the project
The Last Baguette will bring 12 pay-what -you-can theatre sessions for early years to Wiltshire this autumn: 6 Playtime sessions - play-along theatre adventures, & 6 performances of our early years show A Winter’s Tail.
And we are fundraising to support this.
We believe everyone should have the opportunity to participate in & watch theatre, regardless of background or circumstance. Participating in & watching theatre brings people together, helps us understand the world around us, and creates a shared sense of community identity.
Playtime & A Winter’s Tail will happen in libraries in Chippenham, Devizes, Salisbury, Trowbridge & in St Mary’s Hall Malmesbury. Alongside wider touring to theatre venues of each show.

Playtime
Play-along theatre adventures for 2-6 year olds and their grownups
Fun, relaxed participatory theatre session with The Last Baguette theatre company. There’ll be silliness, play-acting, games and music... Expect to play, move, watch and laugh.
Playtime is an invitation for children & adults to play together: a gentle introduction to theatre with play-along storytelling, original music, puppetry, theatre games, movement, and lots of imaginative play.
“The Last Baguette are skilled at creating a warm, welcoming and playful atmosphere where everyone feels included. We love that Playtime provides something different in our programme and bridges the gap between a children’s show and a workshop. Shows sell out fast. We love it!”
Helen Dilley, Creative Learning Officer, Pound Arts
A Winter's Tail - a solstice celebration
The snow is falling and the solstice is approaching. Ratty is getting ready. She wants everything to be really rat-tastic! But will her friends make it through the snow to the winter woodland revels?
Can you help them on their journey? There’ll be excitement, adventure, play-acting, games, music, a splattering of silliness and lots of snow!
A Winter’s Tail is an accessible, gentle & fun performance where everyone can relax, be creative & enjoy themselves through theatre.
“A wonderful interactive, inclusive, entertaining and enjoyable experience.”
Natalie Kidman, Black Country Touring
“Magical interactive storytelling this week at the library with The Last Baguette theatre company! The children were enthralled”

A Winter’s Tail will also tour more widely across the UK. You can see our full tour here: https://www.thelastbaguette.com/tour-dates.html
A Winter’s Tail & Playtime are part of our going strand of work for young audiences, developed in partnership with Pound Arts, Tetbury Goods Shed, and Wiltshire Libraries.
We began this work in 2020 in response to the pandemic, as a really soft introduction to seeing and participating in theatre. We have brought sessions to theatres, arts centres, and community venues up and down the country including The Point, Eastleigh, The Egg, Bath, and lots of libraries - Wiltshire, Swindon and Libraries Unlimited.
Part performance, part workshop: we love to invite children and grownups to play together, and sessions are designed to encourage imagining collectively and working together.
About Us
The Last Baguette theatre CIC makes entertaining, accessible and eccentric work for family audiences. We are a not-for-profit Community Interest Company based in North Wiltshire, and bring high quality theatre to rural communities and market towns.
We are passionate about making theatre for the community we live in, & believe that work for & with young people should be challenging, exciting & experimental. We lead theatre workshops and community projects, and regularly work with local partners such as Malmesbury Carnival and Wiltshire Local Youth Network.
We are associate artists at Pound Arts, Corsham & tour all over the UK. The company was formed from a shared love of theatre, bakery and humour in Paris by graduates of the Philippe Gaulier and Jacques Lecoq schools.
We make devised physical theatre, & believe in the power of fast paced physical comedy & silliness to talk about important issues of our times.
