Dysynni Hockey Club Pitch Upgrade

Aim
We're raising funds to replace Tywyn's 24 year old artificial pitch providing a key facility for members, schools and the local community
Who are we?
Clwb Hoci Dysynni Hockey Club is a well established hockey club based in the small rural town of Tywyn, Gwynedd. We are now a club with over 120 members, competitive teams, a busy junior section as well as social hockey sessions, with ages ranging from 5 right through to 70+. We pride ourselves on the reach of the club’s success which includes North Wales league wins, national titles across our junior and senior sides, and Wales and UK Lions representations.
Why are we crowdfunding?
We rely on having a pitch on which to train our club members, encourage and develop our youngsters, host events including junior tournaments and continue to be active in both men’s and women’s cup and league competitions. It is used by our schools during the day, and by sports clubs in the evenings and weekends. The pitch has had almost 25 years of good use and is now in need of a revamp; a recent survey has shown that the shock pad and surface need replacing to bring it up to modern FIH standards.
How we’ll spend the money raised
The funds raised will contribute to the renovations required to lay a new surface at the current site in Tywyn. We hope to secure 90% of the project funding. To strengthen our application, we need to raise a minimum of £35,000 towards the project. So we are looking to our friends and the community to help us raise this.
Community impact
As well as being used nearly every day of the week by the hockey club, the pitch is used by Ysgol Uwchradd Tywyn during the school day and also by other local sports clubs. It is the only full sized pitch in over an hour radius, with hockey club members travelling from as far as Aberystwyth to the south and Dyffryn Ardudwy to the north. The sport and physical activity that is enabled by our pitch has an immensely positive impact on the health and mental well being of our community across all ages.
Equipping the town with a facility like this, that is safe for future use, ensures inclusive access for all whether that be for groups playing games for fun, training and nurturing our local talent or for social and competitive use. Securing the next 25 years of a playable surface, will have an immeasurably positive impact on our local community, fostering a strong sense of ownership and belonging.
