We believe...
Music has the power to inspire, move, restore and connect us. In a world of increasingly digital and remote experiences, Ruth and Alex have spent lifetimes blowing tubes and striking strings to make music to share with others.
"Duo Tutti make music that reaches the core. It touches you right here in your heart." Ann, Dartmouth Memory Cafe-goer
We believe that music is an essential part of our human experience. With your help, we want to share our music of 'Dances and Dreams' with as many people as possible.
Our vision...
The first part of our project is to professionally record our music, including the commission of three new works by composers Gabrielle Mills, Ruth Molins and Emma Welton, as a double album: Dances and Dreams.
'Dances' is an appealing and imaginative, lively programme of familiar music that we have honed during our experiences as musicians for Live Music Now.
'Dreams' will draw on our shared love of new music and more unusual sounds, including music for piccolo, alto and bass flute. It includes some newly-commissioned works and less familiar music by Sungji Hong, David Bennett Thomas, Peter Nickol and Valerie Coleman.
With the release of our double album Dances and Dreams, we will create a concert tour with two different programmes: one lively and the other more reflective, both presented in a way that encourages dialogue and engagement. In each place we visit, our aim is to reach as wide an audience as possible, giving them live music, and a way of encountering that music, that they would not otherwise experience.
"We have come to each concert and loved every minute. My 7 year old was excited to come. It was great to have music in an accessible and familiar place." audience member at our concerts in Exeter library
We know that cost is a barrier which stops many experiencing live classical music. We want our concerts to be accessible in atmosphere, venue and ticket price, and are always seeking additional funding to enable this. The more money we raise here the less we have to raise through additional funding applications, enabling us to connect with new people and to build the audiences we have already started to reach across the South West.
"It's been so good to listen to live music. Thank you Duo Tutti - yippee a slice of joy!" audience member at Chagford summer music series
Our intention is for Dances and Dreams the double album to be released in Autumn 2025 and for the tour to happen in 2026, creating spaces for inspiration and connection through music.
