After 4 Regionals, 3 UK Finals and 9 Trophies, Dunbotics from Dunblane High School have finally achieved it, an invitation to the World Stage, the Worcester Polytechnic Institute FIRST LEGO League Finals in Massachusetts, USA, 13th - 15th June 2025!
WE REALLY NEED YOUR HELP!
We're calling on all the community around us, who have shown us incredible support in the past, to come together. We have less than a month to raise a substantial target of over £10,000, which allows us to represent the UK, Ireland and most importantly, Scotland on the world stage. Throughout our many seasons, we have been one of the only State Comprehensive schools to compete at such a level in a STEM competition.
What is FIRST LEGO League?
FIRST LEGO League introduces science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM),in an exciting hands-on learning format. Friendly competition is at the heart of Challenge, as teams of students engage in research, problem-solving, coding, and engineering - building and programming a LEGO robot that navigates the missions of a robot game.
Robot Game:
Each year, teams must collectively design, build and program within regulations a robot which completes challenges to earn points in a set amount of time. Our Team uses a flavour of Python named "PyBricks" for coding, we taught ourself MicroPython to be able to program our robot at another level compared to previous years,
Innovation Project:
Teams are given a theme each year to solve a STEM related problem which can help the world around us. This year, the theme is “Submerged” where we as a team aimed to solve damage to Marine Habitats off the coast of Scotland, and the rest of the world. When conducting research we worked with Marine Biologists at Stirling University, along with the Divers at Freedom Diving
Core Values:
Core Values is at the heart of what we do as a team, and what First Lego League is about. Discovery, Innovation, Impact, Teamwork, Inclusion and Fun are the 6 Values the judges watch for throughout competition.
FIRST LEGO Leagues Impact on us:
We were delighted to be asked to produce a video by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), the hosts of the UK Finals, on how FIRST LEGO League has impacted our futures and how it has helped us progress throughout our STEM careers. Please find the video attached to learn more, not only about our future, but the history behind the team.
Please speak to family and friends and if anyone has any contacts to companies who would be willing to provide corporate sponsorships in return for your companies branding at the World Finals on our team uniform, please contact [email protected]
WE REALLY HOPE THAT YOU ARE ABLE TO SUPPORT OUR DREAM!
Thank you,
Forbes, Ben, Evan, Lucas, Mr McKenzie & Miss Tryba
