Dumbarton Memorial Project

Aim

To bring together the people of West Dunbartonshire, use their ideas to remember and memorialise the 32 accused witches of the area.

We are working with West Dunbartonshire council to remember and memorialise the accused witches of the area. To host an exhibition, talks and workshops to educate the public of the names and stories of these poor people. There were at least 32, 28 women and 4 men with the main aim to work with community groups and schools to gather ideas and drawings of what they think an appropriate memorial should look like. Running a competition, with the winning design being passed to a local artist to be made into our memorial sculpture and an accompanying information board. Which will be placed in situ on grass behind the council building on church street Dumbarton as this was site of their execution.
