 New stretch target

Expand the operational capability of the food bank, in order to provide for the wider community in the light of increasing demands as a result of the cost of living crisis.

We are a sub-group of Dar Ul-Isra Community Centre, which works locally to tackle food poverty. We ensure that those in need within the local community have access to food.

Our project began over three years ago, during the Covid-19 crisis, to support the needs of people who had been affected during this time.
The current cost of living crisis has meant we have had to expand our service to meet an ever increasing demand. The food bank not only helps tackle food poverty but it has harnessed a real community spirit and sense of togetherness.
We hope that families find the support they need to get them through difficult times of loss and financial instability.
To this end we have evolved and working with partners, we offer free advice to attendees to ensure they are accessing all the support that they are entitled to. We also provide toiletries and hygiene products. Being based in a warmed facility ensures that people who attend to get their supplies can do so in a warm space.

The DUI food bank relies entirely on charitable donations to maintain the vital service that it delivers for individuals and families, with over 150 individuals from the local community being supported by the service on a weekly basis and demand continuing to rise.

Funds raised will go directly towards supporting the running of the food bank and to ensure this service can continue to benefit the community and expand its capabilities in the light of rising demands.
