Aim
To provide 20 children with dry suits this summer. Dry suits provide children with life limiting illnesses the chance to safely enjoy water.
Who are we?
We are The Isabel Baker Foundation and our mission is to supply children fitted with central venous lines (Hickman lines) with dry suits so they can safely enjoy the water.
Why do children need dry suits?
Children with central venous lines, cannot get them wet due to risk of infection. Dry suits act as a barrier to allow the child to enjoy water safely. They are designed to ensure no water gets inside the suit thus keeping the CVL safe and dry.
What is a central venous line?
Also referred to as Hickman Lines, a central line is a special tube that goes from the outside of the body to a big vein located near the heart
Why do children have these?
It is vital in being able to administer medication and for taking bloods. It stays in permanently whilst the child is receiving treatment, sometimes for months at a time. It also means the children are not constantly having to endure needles.
How much do dry suits cost?
Dry suits are not cheap, prices are on average around £300 per suit, depending on the size of the child and if it has to be custom made.

Dry suits enable little heroes to be able to have a bath, to be able to splash in a paddling pool by keeping their central venous lines dry and safe. We need you now more than ever to ensure we can keep bringing these children & their families just a little bit of relief & respite from the battles they are enduring daily.
