Droxford Cricket Club- New Mower

Who are we?

Droxford Cricket Club play on Sunday afternoons and midweek evenings against local teams in a friendly spirit. The club is based within Droxford Village who use Droxford Rec as their home. We provide affordable cricket to the local community which allows a variety of people to enjoy playing sport. 

We also provide and maintain a safe and free space for the community to use. We have a close relationship with the local primary school, who regularly use this space as part of their PE lessons.

Why are we crowdfunding?

Droxford C.C. is proud to provide the Droxford community a safe and well maintained environment for local use. The cricket club work in partnership with Droxford Parish Council to provide a regularly maintained recreation ground, to be enjoyed by everyone. The community use is varied from local school use, dog walkers and after school activities. The club have been using a mower for a number of years, but now that needs replacing. The club has a small financial reserve to call on due to the Cost of Living Crisis and the recovery from Covid-19. The club needs to raise an additional £4000 to purchase a new mower.  We would appreciate any donations to help us reach this target.

How we’ll spend the money raised

Droxford Cricket Club will spend the money raised on a new outfield mower. This will allow us to improve the quality of the Droxford Recreation Ground which will not only benefit the cricket club, it will also benefit the local community 

Community impact

Droxford Recreation Ground is a crucial part of the community. It gets used regularly for cricket but it also gets used the various other events during the year. For example, the local school use the recreation ground to play their cricket fixtures on, along with using it for their sports day. The students at the primary school use the rec after school to continue with their physical activity with football proving popular. The local Scout groups also use the Recreation ground for their sessions in the summer.  

The rec also gets used as part of a walking route with dog walkers regularly using it to allow their dogs off the lead safely. The local council also use it for events such as the Droxford Fete and The Droxford Scarecrow Festival. The local public often use this space for picnic's and their families to play games e.g. Rounders 

How you can play your part

There are four simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.

2. Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages and tell the world to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get.

3. Offer rewards. Get involved if you are a local business by donating things we can offer to our supporters. We will give you a shout out!

4. Fundraise for us. If you want to run your own fundraiser – maybe a sponsored activity or similar – use the 'contact project' button at the top of our page to let us know. Setting up your own page only takes a few minutes and you won’t need any bank details. Just a fun idea!
