Aim

The DAFC Football For All project aims to grow inclusive football opportunities for all ages, abilities, and backgrounds in our community.

Who are we?

We are Dromore Amateurs Football Club, a long-established voluntary sports club founded in 1958 and based in Dromore, County Down. As a registered charity, we’re proud to offer football and community programmes for people of all ages and abilities ranging from age 5 through to veteran players.

We’re more than just a football club – we’re a hub for community engagement, physical activity, personal development, and wellbeing. Through football, we bring people together and create inclusive, supportive environments for everyone to thrive.

Our teams and programmes are run entirely by dedicated volunteers who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of local people. We’ve successfully delivered popular initiatives like Soccer Camps and Good Relations workshops, which have demonstrated the strong community demand and the trust we’ve built over the years.

Whether on the pitch or through community events, we’re committed to building a healthier, more connected Dromore – one kick at a time.

Why are we crowdfunding?

We’re launching Dromore Amateurs FC – Football For All, a vital new project designed to break down barriers and ensure everyone in our community has the chance to play football – regardless of age, gender, or ability.

With your support and funding from Sport NI, we’ll expand our football participation programmes to include a new disability football inclusion initiative, new girls-only teams, an Over 35s team, and additional youth teams for both boys and girls. These new opportunities will help us reduce inequalities in access to sport and promote physical and mental wellbeing across our community.

To deliver these programmes effectively, we need to invest in our people and our resources. Funding will help us train 19 volunteer coaches through accredited coaching courses and specialist training, including grassroots coaching award, National Coaching Certificate, UEFA C Licence, UEFA B Licence, and Goalkeeping qualifications. This will ensure our volunteers are confident, capable, and ready to lead inclusive, engaging sessions.

We also need essential equipment – footballs, bibs, cones, and goals – plus secure storage to make equipment easily accessible and prolong its lifespan.

New Programmes include:

  • DISABILITY FOOTBALL PROGRAMME

Weekly 1-hour inclusive sessions focusing on fun, fundamentals, and supported engagement with adapted equipment and coaching methods.

  • GIRLS' TEAM

Two sessions per week (2x training + ‘match day’), beginner-friendlies with a focus on technical skills, confidence-building, and teamwork before entering small-sided games.

  • OVER 35S TEAM

Weekly social football sessions centred on physical activity and inclusion, not competition. We plan to organise monthly social matches with other clubs.

  • NEW YOUTH TEAMS (BOYS & GIRLS)

Weekly training and weekend fixtures, with an emphasis on fundamental movement skills, ball control, and team play in a safe, supportive environment.

By backing our campaign, you’ll help us create a more inclusive, connected and healthier community – where football truly is for all. Together, let’s make football accessible for everyone in Dromore.

How we’ll spend the money raised

Every penny we raise will go directly towards making football more accessible for all in our community through our Football For All project. Here's how the funding will be used:

Volunteer Coach Education

  • 10 x NCC @ £220 = £2,200 (Coaches to lead on new programmes)
  • 3 x C Licence @ £650 = £1,950
  • 1 x B Licence @ £650 = £650
  • 1 x Goalkeeper course @ £220 = £220
  • 4 x Grassroots courses @ £25 = £100

Total Coach Education = £5120

Equipment (Youth, Girls, Over 35s, Disability)

  • Balls (30 @ £15) = £450 (incl. inclusive footballs for disability)
  • Cones & bibs (sets for 4 teams @ £27.50) = £110
  • Portable goals (4 sets @ £300) = £1200
  • First aid kits (4 @ £30) = £120

Total equipment = £1,880

Storage

  • Secure container + racking installation = £2,000

Total Target: £10,000

With your support, we can grow our club, launch new inclusive teams, and give more people in Dromore the chance to play and belong.

Community impact

Dromore Amateurs FC is more than just a football club – we are a vital community hub that brings people together, promotes wellbeing, and creates opportunities for personal growth. Through sport, we help reduce social isolation, improve mental and physical health, and build stronger community connections.

Our Football For All project will open the door for children, young people, adults, older people, and those with disabilities to participate in inclusive, meaningful activity. By creating teams for girls, veterans, and individuals with additional needs, we’re ensuring that everyone – regardless of background or ability – has a place to belong, play, and thrive.

Our volunteer coach development plan is directly tied to expanding inclusive and sustainable delivery across all new teams. Each level of training will support:

  • NCC & GRASSROOTS AWARDS Essential for volunteer coaches of youth, girls, and over-35s teams. We will particularly support new coaches to lead on new programmes including disability and inclusion activities.
  • C LICENCE For coaches leading competitive youth and girls’ teams.
  • B LICENCE For club development, mentoring other volunteers, and raising coaching standards.
  • GOALKEEPER COURSE Specialist support for new teams and existing teams.
  • INCLUSIVE COACHING AWARD We are identifying an appropriate inclusive/disability coaching course (e.g., IFA Disability Inclusion Course) to ensure our coaches are prepared to deliver tailored, accessible sessions.

Beyond football, our facilities are regularly used for community workshops, training sessions, and social events. We’ve hosted Good Relations programmes, health and wellbeing events, and seasonal soccer camps that have all been oversubscribed – showing the strong demand for accessible community spaces.

By supporting this project, you're not just helping people play football – you’re helping to build confidence, skills, friendships, and a healthier, more connected Dromore. Our club is powered by volunteers and driven by a passion to make a lasting difference. With your help, we can continue to grow that impact.
