Your donation really matters. We have already raised over half million pounds and purchased the Drewe Arms in Drewsteignton, just a short walk from the National Trust's Drogo Castle. The Drewe Arms was opened as a Community Pub in March 2024. This is only the start however as we now need to move towards renovating it to its former glory and really exploiting it as a community asset.
When you visit The Drewe Arms, you will always remember it. It is a pub like no other and you will immediately succumb to its charm. We cannot let it be lost.
Its joy is in its simplicity. Arriving at the Drewe on a fine day, you may see people sitting outside in the square, enjoying a drink in the sunshine. Going through the front door is like walking into the home of an old friend. There is no conventional bar which is, at first, a little mystifying. There is a small room on the left with a fireplace, built-in benches and antique tables. It is a cosy yet public space. You will soon be in conversation with others in the room. You order your drinks through a little hatch through to the tap room and ale is poured from the cask.
Our vision
We have overwhelming support to run the pub as a community venture with a plethora of suggestions for making it a true social hub. We have formed a Community Benefit Society to take the plans forward.
Now the pub is in community ownership we want to set about preserving an important community asset for future generations. This ambition is already bringing people of all ages together with the wealth of ideas being tailored by the management team into realistic plans.
We have encouraged everyone to purchase shares in the community society and own a little bit of the Drewe Arms. However we recognise that community share ownership doesn't suit everyone and have set up this donation site.
Thank you for donating, however small or large, your contribution will help secure the future of the Drewe Arms....thank you!
