Who are we?
We are Drenewydd Actif Newtown. We are a group made up of Newtown rugby, cricket and tennis clubs.
Why are we crowdfunding?
We are looking to replace the existing changing rooms (seen above) with a brand new community space, inclusive changing rooms and gym facilities. The current facility is not fit for purpose to meet the needs of the stakeholders of all the clubs. It would also give us an opportunity to engage the wider Newtown community. The entire project is likely to cost more than £500,000. We are applying for funding from various groups, but we are using crowdfunder to raise £75,000 to help the project.
Community impact
We will be able to have inclusive changing facilities for the diverse members/users of the club. We will also be able to invite more community groups to use the space, as well as engaging the more disadvantaged and vulnerable members of our local community. We also have a partnership with Ponthafren and Kaleidoscope, as well as providnig edvocation services and engaging the neurodivergent and non-school attendees through physical activity.
How you can play your part
There are four simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.
1. Buy a brick. Don’t delay if you’re going to support us because momentum is key to our success!
2. Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages and tell the world to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get.
3. Fundraise for us. If you want to run your own fundraiser – maybe a sponsored activity or similar – use the 'contact project' button at the top of our page to let us know. Setting up your own page only takes a few minutes and you won’t need any bank details. Just a fun idea!
Buy a brick packages
A brick will be installed in the upstairs community space in the new changing room. You can buy bricks in four simple packages:
