It's that time again when I reach out to you all for support with the recording and release process of my new album.
Dreamviewer is the follow-up record to my last release Landing Place. We achieved more than I could have ever hoped for with that album, selling out two UK tours and having the track 'My Father's Songs' nominated for an AMA UK Award for Song Of The Year. My mind was blown and continues to be at how my writing and connection to my audience has progressed over the last two years. Being able to get out on the road and see how well the songs I write have been received has changed my life.
I'll fill you in on some important information about the crowdfund before I give you all the details about the new album. This crowdfund is what's called an all or nothing campaign. Which means if we don't hit the target of £20,000 we don't get ANY of the funding at all. It's so important to me to make this album and I greatly appreciate your backing if you feel you can get onboard. The rewards section is on the tab above and there are some great options for all budgets!
Since Landing Place was released I’ve written over 30 new songs and the time has come to lay some of them down in the studio. Myself and Jon Mackenzie (my guitarist and co-songwriter) have recently worked hard at Colorsound Studios, Edinburgh on 13 great tracks that didn't quite make the cut for the album but they will be released over 3 EP's this winter and into 2025, leading up to Dreamviewer being released next summer.
Dreamviewer will be a 12 track album made up of wistful alternative Folk/Americana songs fuelled by resolute passion. It will be recorded this fall at Karma Studios, London where we have a team of multi-talented musical geniuses on board to produce and engineer the recordings.
AMA UK Award nominated and multi-instrumentalist/composer Joe Harvey-Whyte is on board to produce the album. His work has featured on Sky Arts TV, EA Games, KEXP & BBC Radio and he has worked with artists including; Liam Gallagher / John Squire, James Vincent Mcmorrow, The Magic Numbers, Tony Visconti and Billy Bragg.
Our mixing and mastering wizard Fred Abbott has been drafted in on engineering duties and will also play keys on the record. Fred has worked as a producer, writer and session player with a variety of talented artists, such as Tom Chaplin (Keane) and Jamie Lawson and I have worked with him on past releases, 'Let Me Live' single and The Marriage debut album 'Imagining Sunsets' - so I am very excited to have him as part of the team for Dreamviewer.
My fantastic band The Tanagers will be heading south with me for the recordings. After touring around the UK with me there is no one else I’d rather have than these talented individuals helping me bring this album to life. Richard Anderson will be on bass, Scott Forsyth on drums and Jon Mackenzie on guitar. We've already been working hard on the 12 tracks that make up Dreamviewer and can't wait to get into the studio to finally lay them down.
As exciting as the prospect of a new album is, here's the but. As you all know the cost of everything has gone up and that includes musicians fees and studio time. Creative Scotland have recently closed their Open Fund therefore crowdfunding is now the ONLY option available to help me raise the money. So I am asking for your support to help fund the recording and release of the album.
As I mentioned earlier this is an all or nothing crowdfund and means if we don't hit the target we don't get to keep any of the pledges. Without this crowdfund’s success I simply won’t be able to record this new record so it is vital the we hit the target so myself and the band can get into the studio this fall.
By purchasing one of the rewards via the tabs above, you will be helping to fund some of these overheads.
Studio Hire
Production
Engineering
Mixing and mastering the album
Artwork
CD and vinyl pressing
Music videos for single releases
Album promotion
The total cost for all of this is over £25,000 so I am hoping to raise at least £20,000 to try and cover the vital elements. This is the minimum amount we require to be able to go ahead with the recording.
My aim with this release is to make the highest quality recordings of my songs and take my music to more places around the UK and further, with plans to tour the record extensively in 2025/2026. I really hope you can get behind my crowdfund and help me make this album an even bigger success than the last.
If you are unable to back this crowdfund by purchasing one of the rewards or even if you are, I would be very grateful if you could share this page to your friends and family on social media. Spread the word and let's make this album come to life!
Thank you so much for your time and support. It means the world to me.
