Aim
Help Dreamscape keep calm, inclusive community activities running and grow towards a permanent, welcoming community space.
A place to belong, without pressure
Dreamscape Community Connections C.I.C. creates calm, welcoming opportunities for people who may feel lonely, overwhelmed, anxious, socially isolated or unsure where they fit.
We support neurodivergent people, people experiencing low confidence or major life changes, and anyone who finds traditional social activities difficult to access.
I’m Marybeth, the founder of Dreamscape.
I created Dreamscape after recognising that support can help someone take important steps forward, but it does not always provide the continued connection and sense of belonging that people need afterwards.
People should not be left wondering where to go when formal support ends.
They still need safe opportunities to meet others, rebuild confidence, try something new and feel part of their community.
That is what Dreamscape is here to provide.
What makes Dreamscape different?
Walking into a new activity can feel overwhelming, particularly when you are anxious, neurodivergent, attending alone or unsure what will be expected of you.
Our activities are designed to be flexible and low pressure.
People can:

💜 Bring someone for support where appropriate
💜 Take a break without needing to explain
💜 Attend without being expected to appear confident
Nobody is forced to talk, participate or share personal information.
People are welcomed exactly as they are.
What do we currently provide?
Dreamscape organises accessible community activities across Heanor, Ilkeston, Ripley and surrounding areas of Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire.
These include:

💜 Board game and puzzle evenings
💜 Relaxed meals and afternoon teas
💜 Community walks and outdoor activities
💜 Food and cultural discovery events
💜 Gentle social meet-ups
💜 Supported opportunities to build confidence and connection
Some people arrive with a friend, family member or carer. Others come alone and are welcomed by our team and Community Companions.
For someone who has felt isolated, simply entering the room can be a huge achievement.
Why are we crowdfunding?
Dreamscape is a Community Interest Company, meaning the money we receive is used to benefit the community and develop our work.
At present, we hire different community venues to run our activities. This Crowdfunder will help us continue offering safe, welcoming sessions while building towards our long-term goal of having a permanent Dreamscape community space.
The money raised will help to fund:

💜 Volunteer and Community Companion training

💜 A fund towards Dreamscape’s future permanent community home
Funding will also help us plan activities more confidently, keep prices as affordable as possible and reach people who may not otherwise know that this support exists.
Our long-term dream
Our dream is to create a permanent Dreamscape community space: somewhere calm, gentle and welcoming where people can access connection, creativity and reassurance throughout the week.
A place where someone can attend an activity, enjoy a quiet drink, meet others or simply spend time somewhere they feel accepted.
A place where people do not have to mask, explain themselves or pretend they are coping.
Loneliness and isolation can affect anyone. However, for someone experiencing anxiety, neurodivergence or low confidence, taking the first step into a new environment can feel almost impossible.
Dreamscape is here to make that first step feel softer.
