Help them get started
Your support makes a difference
Aim: This year at the Kiltwalk, we are raising money to help with running costs and keep DRD rolling!
We are Dundee Roller Derby, a full-contact flat-track roller derby team that has been active in Dundee since 2009. Our skaters compete at a local, national and international level.
Some of our skaters and supporters will be completing the Dundee Kiltwalk on 17th August this year as Dundee Stroller Derby, to raise funds for the league.
As a league we have various running costs, including venue hire for training and games, insurance, new skater kit and getting our accounts audited. While the majority of these costs are covered by membership fees, home game tickets and merch sales, like many other grassroots sports teams we also rely on grants and fundraising to keep things running. We pride ourselves on keeping the cost of membership and games accessible to our skaters and attendees. For example, we provide kit hire for new skaters to give them a chance to see if derby is right for them before they make the financial commitment of buying kit. On game days we sell tickets on a pay-what-you-can basis to keep the cost of watching derby accessible to the local community.
All the money raised will go into Dundee Roller Derby to keep the league running.
Dundee Roller Derby pride ourselves on being a welcoming and accessible space for people who are often marginalised in team sports. In particular, we provide opportunities for women and LGBTQI+ people to get involved in sport and compete at a national level. Our home games are fun and family-friendly events.
