COMMUNITY INSPIRED MURAL ON DOWNHILLS PARK CAFE
We are North London Creative Resistance. We aim to celebrate black history, experience and community in North London through organising innovative and engaged creative community projects.
Our first project will be a mural on the Downhills Park Community Café; a vital meeting place for the wider Tottenham community that serves people from all walks of life. The mural will have interactive elements, a chalkboard, and multiple languages displayed; providing inter-generational appeal (and a distraction for kids while the adults chat!)
The local community will be involved every step of the process, from finalising designs to painting the cafe. We use the community circle that happens fortnightly at Lordship Recreational Ground to outreach.
Our vision for the mural is a piece of artwork that enhances the café and displays the true multi-cultural history of Tottenham – by the people, for the people!
We are currently raising money for the supplies needed to carry out this project:
- Wood filler
- Primer
- Isolation Coating to protect and preserve the piece
- Rollers
- Paintbrushes
- Acrylic-based exterior paint
- Acrylic varnish
- Chalk board panelling for interactive use
- Chalk
- Any other necessary materials for the mural
If we raise more than we need, we will put that money into maintaining the mural in the years to come and keeping it fresh.
