Raising funds for a short film tackling themes of female friendship, grief, memory and how life shifts in your late twenties.
Synopsis:
On the day of Nat’s funeral, Rosie decides to opt out of the service, instead heading to Nat’s old favourite spot from when they were teenagers. On the banks of the river, Rosie sits watching old videos on her phone, finding comfort in the memories of Nat that are preserved there. Her peace is disturbed when Hannah turns up unexpectedly to confront Rosie for not attending the funeral.
The two women argue, and we learn that over a year ago, the trio of friends fell out. It’s clear that Rosie, as the only one not to attend university, felt left behind in their small town. Her fears of being stuck there forever intersect with her memories of her friends and bring forth a feeling of abandonment. They are able to reflect on their past and find their own cathartic way to move on and charge forward into a new beginning.

Director's Statement:
Down To The River is a love letter to female friendship and asks the question, “Where do our memories of each other exist?” Do they exist in our phones or in the places and people that we have impacted? The film speaks on the second coming-of-age that happens in your late-twenties, the feeling that you may not have done enough, coupled with the idea that you still have your whole life ahead of you and how that feeling can be shaken amid grief. The film is How To Have Sex meets Frances Ha told by Sofia Coppola. A memory happening in real-time and the undeniable truth that we are capable of moving forward even if we need help to find our way through.
