Tribe Of Doris  has been bringing people, from  all cultures together to share and learn from each other for 26 years. Serving diverse and disadvantaged  communities and reaching out to  families and individuals across the country who have a love of being immersed in  making music from all parts of the world , dancing  round fires ,singing  their hearts up , relishing community,  respecting culture and bulding a better world of  inclusion and equality .

We are as amazing, as an amazing festival BUT we are a workshop based event, so we really get to  meet each other and learn about different cultures creative expression. We are a not for profit social enterprise,  and  although we have kept going all these years  we  never  have enough funds over to invest in the  infrastructure  of the event. We are committed to making our events  accessible to all but as a small community organisation it hard  for us to financially support this work. So we have decided to launch this crowdfunder to help us continue to make good things  happen.

What we want to do

This year we want to upgrade our ability  to be able to offer  differently abled people the facilities to participate, with onsite bespoke changing rooms and toilets especially for those in need of a hoist. To achieve this we want to bring  PonyAxes, a most incredible service  that gives people the chance to get around the site in a pony and trap especially designed for wheelchairs. Differently abled people are often excluded from these sorts of events through lack of facilities. If you want to know more about Pony Axes . www.ponyaxes

We also want to support Amazing People Of the World ( APOW) a youth organisation in London to be able to attend this life changing experience and help other, small, diverse community groups1 to be part of the event too.

We want to improve some of our facilities, signage and storage and expand our programme to be more accessible, opening into new areas.

Where will the money go ?

Supporting disability access - £2000

Supporting  refugee youth - £3500

Supporting  community groups - £3000

Expanding programme  to be more accessible  - £1200

Portable roll out dance floor - £1500

Signage upgrade - £1000

On site storage upgrade - £1500

This crowdfunder will help us to improve our event, reach out to amazing people from diverse communities, support them to be involved and integrate into the event, which has the knock on effect of making them feel more integrated into the whole of society. With your support Tribe Of Doris  is excited to be making  all this possible and to continue to provide a quality, exceptional and unique opportunity for people to experience true inclusion and respect for cultural differences.

Quote from Wheelchair user

“When I could walk I used to go to Tribe of  Doris and loved it, since I’ve been a full time wheel chair user nine years ago, I haven’t been able to go any festivals let alone my beloved Doris. This year with PonyAxeS and a Changing Place, Doris is possible for me and others like me. I’m so excited!"
