Volunteers transforming homes for families in crisis through: clearance • cleaning • provision • support

by Dora Brown in Ipswich, Suffolk, United Kingdom

We're still collecting donations

On the 3rd May 2024 we'd raised £10,000 with 152 supporters in 28 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.

 New stretch target

Get as close to our stretch target as possible is crucial to Dora. So please keep donating.

Every single penny goes towards helping families living in dire home circumstances. We are David vs Goliath with the scale of the problem in our community, so we need your support to scale our growth to help.

Thanks so much. It means the world to us xx

If you're new to Dora... this is what we do:

  • Dora is a huge team of up-f'rit volunteers who transform homes, free-of-charge providing fast relief for families living in crisis conditions
  • We give families beds, dining tables, wardrobes, washing machines, curtains…we do tonnes of clearance + unimaginable levels of cleaning to make homes habitable, functioning, supportive places to live in again
  • Dora gets people back-on-track with fun, caring, life-changing help for the most vulnerable families in our community
  • We are a tiny but mighty charity plugging a gap in social care, contributing to the crucial nationwide picture of charities effecting policy change through grassroots help

If you know Dora already... our plea for you to support again:

  • In our third knockout year Dora has grown exponentially: we radically transformed 31 family's homes + lives (up from 8 in 2022...+ 2024 looks set to keep up this growth that we are immensely proud of)
  • We honed the machine + cut our family referral to project start time by 25%, getting in to help families much quicker; + we grew our stable of volunteers by 58 of the best humans imaginable
  • In 2023 we converted from a social enterprise to a registered charity so that we can claim Gift Aid on your donations, increasing the value by 25%, ye-ha!
  • Dora is a small, local charity + while we receive numerous grants, our own fundraising efforts + every single penny donated by you is vital for match funding, covering core costs + for keeping Dora going, so please do donate if you're able to
