Aim: To raise funds to update the utilities and then build a new clubhouse for the benefit of all Matlock Rugby teams, supporters and community
Matlock RUFC is an inclusive, friendly and family oriented rugby club supporting over 400 players across various teams ranging from our men's teams down to the minis & juniors, the Matlock Bees girls team, and our newly formed SEND tag rugby team.
The current clubhouse has been standing over 50 years, and is in desperate need of repair. It has had minimal repairs since it was built. The clubhouse is no longer fit for purpose with poor insulation, a leaking roof and rot taking over the timber cladding. With over 400 players relying on the clubhouse each week, not to mention the supporting coaches, families and visiting teams on match days, the clubhouse is a well used facility but struggles to cope with the increasing numbers of users.
The club has grown from strength to strength in the past 50 years, however we are desperate to improve our facilities for our own members and for all the other clubs that use the facility.
How we’ll spend the money raised.
Phase 1 : Upgrade Utilities (Summer 2025)
The above vital work to the electrics and sewerage needs to be completed before we demolish and rebuild the clubhouse.
We intend to have a phase 2 Crowdfunder campaign in 2026 which will be to raise funds for the Clubhouse build.
We currently have 280 children who play and train rugby every week. We would like to increase this number and offer children from all social backgrounds the opportunity to be part of the MATLOCK RUFC family. Our recently formed Special Needs team has been a huge success, and we will continue to promote the SEND team and encourage children of all abilities to get involved and benefit from our fun weekly sessions. Our adult members are an integral part of the club consisting of 3 teams who train twice weekly and play on Saturdays in various leagues. We would like to encourage more adults and juniors to join our club as players, social members, Vice Presidents and supporters.
The improved club facilities will benefit children and adults of all abilities and social backgrounds for many generations to come. We currently have numerous local organisations and charities who benefit from using our facilities on a regular basis. We are confident that building a new clubhouse will attract many more local clubs and organisations to use and enjoy the benefits of our new clubhouse.
There are five simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality. We aim to raise £50,000 in this first phase of fundraising.
1. Make a donation. Don’t delay if you’re going to support us, because momentum is key to our success! Any amount (small or large) would be greatly appreciated. If you would like to contribute a larger amount then we are offering a 'buy a brick'. For £500 you can buy a brick with your name on it. There will be recognition of your donation on the wall of our newly built clubhouse.
2. Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages and tell the world to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get.
3. Local Businesses. If you work for or know of a local business who might be able to help with a donation then please let us know, we can contact them directly. Some businesses offer community grants, we would appreciate any information from you regarding these and can liaise with the company concerned.
4. Raw materials. If you know of a business that might be able to assist us with building materials/equipment then please let us know.
5. Fundraise for us. If you want to run your own fundraiser – maybe a sponsored activity or similar – use the 'contact project' button at the top of our page to let us know. Setting up your own page only takes a few minutes and you won’t need any bank details. Just a fun idea!
