The aim of this project is to get our members, new, returning and existing, back safely into diving
Formed in 1973, Dolphin Sub Aqua Club Belfast is a branch of the National Governing Body for scuba diving and snorkelling, the British Sub-Aqua Club (BSAC).
We’re a not-for-profit club run by volunteers with one simple mission – to go diving and have fun! We’re a friendly club offering a mix of quality training and regular diving where divers can learn and progress at their own pace. Members enjoy the full range of club and training activities, including weekend dive trips, diving holidays and social activities. We pride ourselves in being a small but important cog in the local diving community and our diverse membership from all walks of life in Northern Ireland attests to this.
Our vision is to equip club members with the skills needed to al
low all members to safely enjoy diving. National lockdowns have reduced our ability to get in the water and practice important skills. The money raised as part of this campaign will be used to host a series of 'Get back to SCUBA' events in NI. We will use the funds raised to encourage ex-members, new members and current members back to diving.
We will up-ski
ll members in essential things like first aid, use of the club defibrillator and safe towing, launch and recovery of boats. These events will be family friendly events that welcome members, partners and their families to join in the days' activities.
Rental of pool facilities will allow diving trainees to practice skills in a safe and controlled environment. A small number of dry suits will also be purchased to allow new and returning members to get their first experience of diving in the open water that might otherwis
e be restricted due to costs associated with purchasing of dry suits.
We are seeking funding to allow our divers to develop essential skills like first aid that are of use when diving but also within the local community. We are also offering a number of rew
ards in exchange for a donation, like Greek lessons by native speakers, one-to-one tutoring by qualified lecturers and diving medicals from a diving doctor. We are also offering snorkeling lessons for those that might want to get a taste of scuba diving without the depth!
