Aim: DoES Liverpool is moving. We are going to a fantastic new space: The Tapestry building, close to Lime Street. But we need your help!
DoES Liverpool is a community of makers, designers, coders, engineers, and many others who together make up one of the most active and dynamic groups in Liverpool.
Since 2011, DoES Liverpool has operated out of the Gostins Building in central Liverpool. Founded on an ethos of cooperation and collaboration, the community has grown steadily from one room with a 3d printer and a few desks, to now encompassing three rooms, comprising of a main office space, dedicated workshop, and meeting room. However, we have now reached the point where DoES is too big for the space it occupies, and so it is time to move on.
Luckily, a fantastic new home has been found in the Tapestry, a new development in the freshly minted Fabric District. Taking its name from the abundance of haberdashers, milliners and other textile concerns that operated—and in some cases, still operate—in the area, the vision for the area includes leisure, living and workspaces, and DoES is proud to be a part of the first wave of tenants.
The new space will offer twice as much desk space as we currently have, a dedicated events space to sit alongside our meeting room, separate workshops for clean and dirty tasks, quiet meeting areas, and a cafe style open area where you can have a coffee, discuss projects or just relax.
However, with such a move, come costs. As a CIC, no profits are removed from the company, meaning that there is already an amount available which will cover a sizeable proportion of the interior works required. However, there is still something of a shortfall to cover for things like vehicle hire, electrics and plumbing, decoration and so on.
One of DoES’ main strengths, and the reason for this move, is our ever expanding, and incredibly loyal, community. With that in mind, we wanted to give you a chance, not only to contribute to this effort, but to become a part of the fabric of DoES forever.
Every donation—whether it’s £5 or £500—will help DoES make a solid start in our new location. To help you make your decision, we’re also offering exclusive rewards for backers at all different donation levels.
As a special perk for supporters donating £75 or more, we’ve managed to wrangle a whole suite of free masterclasses and skillshares, from experts in the DoES community. You can view the full list here, but here are a few highlights:
Spot something you like? Pick the “Evil Genius” reward tier above, and we’ll be in touch to confirm which masterclass or workshop you’d like to attend.
So please dig deep and help us to make our move a resounding success - pledge your money, receve your reward and spread the word!
